The above links are from a google search of "Wearing hat cause hair loss"

Note that ALL of the links said that wearing a hat does NOT cause hair loss. I took each link in the order it appeared in my search. I did NOT omit any links that said wearing a hat DID cause hair loss. Search for yourself.

Those of you wanna-be intellectuals trying to claim otherwise are just proving yourselves to be bigger morons than you already are for disputing it in the first place. Now shut up because I was right. QED. :p ;)

Google owned spidey07!!!!

It's not true. Anyone who believes that heard it as a child and didn't think otherwise.

funny...when I google I get nothing but information that supports wearing a hat causes hair loss.

Anyway - what precautions did I take to slow hair loss?
Kept it clean
Didn't wear a hat that ground sweat and dirt into my hair
When I washed my hair I massaged my scalp pretty good.

I concur, it's just a myth... so many people think that's the case, but really, it's not... it's all genetics and such... not if you wear a hat or not :p

EDIT: yeah, she did say "hair follicles" to be exact.
Your mom is right. :p

At least for EXTENDED hat wearing.

Want "proof" in an example?: Turn a bucket upside down on the lawn. Remove it after a few days . . . grass is dying where it was covered . . . of course, your hair is tougher than grass - BUT, same principle. ;)

:D

Your hair doesn't need moisture and sunlight to grow.

Are you going bald? If not, when you do, it won't be insignificant to you...

If wearing a hat caused hair loss, everyone in the military would be bald. You can't be outdoors without a hat.

Oh wait..... well, that's from the hair cuts, but most all of them have their hair.

Read the f'in links.

Almost every single one states "don't wear a tight hat that could cut off circulation"

sigh

Cutting off circulation does not cause permanent hair loss. The folicle will continue making hair just as soon as full circulation has returned. How many times have you slept on your hand or arm or leg, and woke up with it numb? Is it bald now?

And honestly, whoever wears a hat so tight it cuts off circulation to the scalp has bigger problems than hair loss.

that's what i kind of thought. it's hereditary hair loss i'm quite sure: my dad's bald, my grandpa on my dad's side is, my grandpa on my mom's side is, my dad's brothers are, but it's not too bad actually for my mom's brother's.

Do youR research.....wearing a hat causes hair loss. Period.

But the fact that it is extremely prevalent in your family means you're probably bald by 30 (depending on your family). Sorry. Take some precautions now and you may be able to prolong it.

<---all men on both sides of my family were bald by 30...I took precautions and have just a slight frontal loss.

DON'T WEAR A HAT!!!!!!!!!!

ok, jackass, i did research

Myth: Wearing a hat causes hair loss

Fact: As long as you don't regularly wear a hat that's so tight it restricts circulation blood flow to the hair follicles - this will not cause hair loss. It can, however, damage hair because of the effects of seat, dirt and skin particles that can clog pores.

Really, though, I still believe that wearing hat often can cause hair loss. I don't care what those so-called experts say. I don't particularly like guys who wear hats all the time, as I'm afraid they'll go bald. And it isn't pretty, since they don't usually get rid of everything on their heads.

yeah and it looks like i posted that one too before reading that he wrote it also. heheh

its all in the genes...

Every one of my uncles on my mom's side has hair. Not one of them have a recieding hairline or balding spot and they are 35-40. Every one on uncles on my dad's side and including my dad has thin hair and a bald spot by the time they are 25. I thank the allelic crossovers daily that my hair chracterisitcs mimic my my mom's side of the genepool.

on a side note...does this happen to you.

Your hair hurts after you room your cap? I mean like the end roots of your hair folicle when you rearrange your hair and replace the hat or remove the hat? I guess its hard to explain. Some guys I know what I am talking about and some don't.

What IS the deal with hats? I think my generation is the only one that chose not to wear them. Well, basically, I guess we didn't see the need to wear one 24/7. Our parents did on occasion. Strange ones, too. From cowboy hats to these Australian getups. They wore turned out sailor hats, skipper's hats and these little sports car deelibobs. But they DIDN'T wear them all the damn time, indoors and out!

The only time my peers and I ever wore hats, was for their intended purpose. Hard hats on construction sites. Baseball caps while playing ball, skull caps in the winter... Nope, I just don't get it!

If hats cause hair loss I should be bald! I wear a hat every day while at work or outdoors, I haven't lost a dimes worth of hair in the last 15+ years.

Has anybody else had it where you've taken your hat off and sometime later you go to adjust your hat and its not there, its almost like your hair has memory or something. That has happened to me occasionaly, can be kind of funny when other people see you.:)

Read his follow up post and he reiterates that he's right because the sites I mentioned say "Don't wear a cap that cuts off circulation"

WELL DUH. The question is "Does wearing a hat cause hair loss?" not "Does wearing a hat TOO TIGHTLY cause hair loss?"

While we're at it, we should also warn people not to wear baseball caps soaked in NAIR. That could cause hair loss too.
Also, if you have a hat with a series of rotating blades that cut off chunks of your scalp, you shouldn't wear those either. That causes hair loss too. Gee, I was wrong. Hats DO cause hair loss.

Actually, my hat was the only thing holding my hair on my head.

I have a magic hat- with it on I have a full head of hair. Off? I'm bald. Go figure?
