Haswell Xeon 2016 Upgrade

1. The PC is a handbrake encoder for now. I want to upgrade the rig to be able to play today's PC games.
2. Upgrade is $850 tops.
3/4. Preferably within the USA.
5. When it comes to mechanical hard drive storage, Western Digital's reliable for me.
6. The PC has already been built.
7. No overclocking.
8. 1980x1080p, 60hz.
9. I'd like to upgrade during September after the dust settles with Pascal V. Polaris benchmarks. For me, the GPU and the M.2 SSD are the priority parts to buy at that month.
10. No. Windows 10 is the rig's OS.

Don't get a M.2 drive until you can afford a NVMe drive. (Or if your case doesn't have space for a SATA SSD, but that doesn't seem to be a problem for you.) Among current SATA drives, may I suggest a Crucial MX200? It's what I bought.

Edit: Or if you really want more space, perhaps a 1TB Sandisk?

Also, September is a long time from now. But considering you have only one slot on that ITX board you'll probably want a 1070.

Why the 950 Pro??

The M.2's for the system reserved data, bootup, and normal applications like Office/web browsing while the 2.5" SSD would be for games per my schematics. The PNY 2.5" SSD I have right now in my rig is fast enough for booting the PC. I can't imagine how faster the 950 Pro can go.

I'm aiming for a MLC-type SSD's for longevity. That's why it's an A-Data SSD I'm eyeing on right now, though I can go for PNY again for their $140 'gaming+MLC' SSDs.

But considering you have only one slot on that ITX board you'll probably want a 1070.

I want to get the 1070, but online people are saying that the 1070's "overkill" for rigs with 1920x1080p 60hz monitors because of screentearing and waste of graphics 'power'. They also say the 970's better for the already inferior display settings.

I'll think about it once the end of June comes and overall 1070 benchmarking from people.

Why the 950 Pro??

I'm not saying to get a NVMe drive. I am saying not to get a M.2 drive unless it's a NVMe drive or you really need the space. But your case can supposedly fit at least 2 2.5" SSDs.

The MX200 is a MLC (+SLC) drive. If you're looking for one drive to replace them all, the Mushkin Reactor seems to be the best-priced 1TB MLC SSD, and it has good reviews.
