Haswell i3-4150 vs FX 8320/e for budget gaming rig?

Perhaps you could provide us with your post where you pretend that a G3258 has no trouble reaching 4.7-4.8.??

So either you are an Intel rep or you are just trolling..😀

Notice that Atenra talked of 4.4 out of FXs that have a 4.2 turbo, wich is more than reasonable..

Perhaps you could, because I never made such a claim. Should I link all the posts you made saying overclocks aren't garanteed?

And the smiley doesn't hide the ad hominem attack either.

Am I the only one wondering what board the OP got to go with his new i5? You know, instead of arguing over guaranteed overclocks . . .

See below:

Well, everything but the video card is purchased and I think I did pretty well:

i5-4440 - $155
Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming-3 - $109
120GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD - $79
2x4GB Kingston HyperX Fury DDR3-1866 (Red) - $81
NZXT S340 (White) - $59
750W EVGA Supernova G1 80 Plus Gold - $59
24" Samsung S24D390HL PLS Monitor - $99

TOTAL: $641 (all prices in Canadian dollars)

Not bad for a rig on a budget yes? I'll probably throw some sort of R9 280/280X/290 in there depending on the deals on Cyber Monday. 😀

Wow, I didn't realize you could get a 24" monitor for under $100 these days. Nice!

Look at you, beset on all sides by iniquities. 🙄

Speak English 😀

Of course, notice what said intel rep DIDN'T say. The word "guarantee". Anywhere.

That is what i said, nobody asked him of guarantees for his claim of easy 4.5GHz overclock for the DC CPU. But when i mentioned the 4.4GHz on the FX8320E, Phynaz jump on the NO guarantees on overclocking mantra.

It is easy for the Intel CPU to reach 4.5GHz but the AMD CPU is not guaranteed. 🙄

ps: last time im responding for that matter in this thread 😉

No ad hominem but some logic since you are guaranting frequencies, heck, i thought that only an official statement was credible...

Personaly i do guarantee nothing, though i m assuming that a FX E wich has a 4.2 stock turbo has 100% probability to get to 4.4 given the observed margins on rewiewed samples, on the other hand i see you assuming that huge overclocks , like 3.2 to 4.5, are a certainity.

FYI both Hardware.fr and Computerbase.de got 5.1GHz and THG also got very good results with the 8370E wich is 3.3-4.3, 18% frequency margin, 10% higher ceiling than the early 8350s.

Thank goodness!

Well, the problem is that Core i5 4440 cannot OCed and it has even lower performance than the Core i5 4670K at default that is used in the benchmarks.

Hold on there, unless the i5 4440 is now 229$ as you claimed in your compare to a 110$ 8320$. Also I dont know where you got 110$ from since its 120$ at newegg. Not to mention the i5 4690K is 210$. Yet more made up nonsense from your part.

Again, please show where I garanteed anything. If you're going to shill for AMD at least do your homework so your posts aren't so easily discredited 😀

Because I never said it was garanteed. You did. You know the difference but can't admit you're wrong.

I know you said R9 280/280x/290 but I mean if you can get this in Canada somehow you should.

R9 290x for $255... That's a steal.

You must think everyone here a complete idiot to sit in front of your keyboard and pretend that someone saying a processor "can easily overclock to xxx" is the same thing as a guarantee and think no one will notice. They aren't the same thing, and you know it. That's why you chose to use the word "guarantee" because it's far more powerful and convincing than saying a processor "can easily overclock" Heck, you were even talking like this guarantee came straight from AMD themselves until called out on it.

I'm not speaking for AtenRa. I think he misspoke, could have chosen his words more wisely. That being said, it's obviously his opinion, not something meant as an AMD-sanctioned fact, at least from the posts I've read (show me if otherwise). Some here are on a witch hunt with their pitchforks out because someone considered an AMD and Intel processor for their next build and AtenRa dared to explain how you can get more bang for your buck with some easy overclocking setting changes in the unlocked and lower priced FX. Same as every one of these threads. Some people have an agenda here that's beyond how they try and portray themselves. It's too bad really, this partisan thinking.

Try reading post 141.

Honestly I think we ran into some cultural idiomatic differences here that got WAY overblown. I think native English speakers should cut some slack to those who post here whose native tongue is not English, some of them are so well educated you can hardly tell, yet they carry a whole set of cultural differences with them whilst trying to converse with us.

Post of the day. I agree completely since i get my own msgs passed across the wrong way too many times hehehehehe

He didn't mis-speak at all. He continued to claim it was a guarantee multiple times even after being called out on it. He's intentionally distorting the facts to push his agenda.

It's been let go. I was responding to another member who quoted me in his post.
