Just was wondering for desktop users if i were to disable the all the sleep settings in power management would that take care of that bug by never letting my pc go into any kind of sleep mode?

For the desktop I think this is a minor issue, especially for people who can choose their own motherboards as they can most likely grab one with an extra USB3 chip. This might be quite annoying in a notebook depending on how many USB3 devices are actually affected. In my experience default notebook sleep schedules are pretty aggressive, remember to save before stepping away.

Why would they release the C1 chipset at all knowing it has issues? Actually, the better question is probably, would you buy one?

For my desktop? Yeah I would buy a C1 chipset. My computer is never in the sleep state. I turn off my desktop at night.

Laptop? Hell no.

I have mixed feelings about this. The bug is supposedly minor, and a fix is already in the works. But I don't think I can wait 2 more months (working with laptop Core 2 CPU). I also don't have USB 3 devices currently but I do plan to get some in the future.

I will be waiting for Anandtech's review on Haswell to see what practical implications the USB issues have.

Intel is getting fat and lazy. They have no competition and no reason to drop prices. The tablet market is hurting both Intel and MS. Maybe time to hire some better managers.

I bet there are a lot of motherboards that are dropping most or all of the USB2 interfaces.

Data loss is not part of the issue, but I still wouldn't get a laptop that was affected as it'd be an occasional annoyance.
