The existence of stupid consumers does not make SLI/Crossfire a bad thing.
Most of us rely on reviews, and i have seen divided opinions. AT says NV, TH says the opposite.
Usually, the major review sites reach pretty similar conclusions. It would be unusual for one company/card to be a clear winner on one site and a clear loser on another.
as we all know anything except 60 FPS is unnoticed by our eye. Heck, i can't see the difference after 40 FPS.
Ugh... don't even start. You can see *well* over 60FPS (unless you have serious vision problems); most people can tell differences up to at least ~100FPS. If you search, you can find several LONG threads about this topic, and you can download a utility called FPSCompare that will let you see for yourself.
I can wait 1 year for a single card release than dash out $ 700+ now.
Great. But there are some people who would rather pay more now for more performance if they could, even if it's less cost-effective. And your opinion on this is just that -- an opinion.
The most ridiculous example is a 6600 SLI, i mean, a 6600GT was never a high end card and would naturally suck at some games of its time. WHO would want to get another one of those a few months later? I see no point at all, SLI on a mainstream, false idea.
I would agree with this; the only time that SLI makes sense outside of the super-high-end is if either next-gen cards are slow in coming (or are not competitive in price/performance with what you have now), or you can get a matching card for an incredibly good price. So far, this has never happened.
