Has your friend recently bought an Iphone 3GS

My friend is right now going to buy an unsubsidized iphone 3gs. I was going to hold out untill the next iphone or atleast till december when I can buy it at a cheaper price to go from my iphone 3G to my iphone 3GS. Now I wanna go break bank and upgrade to a 3GS and sell my jailbroken iphone. Now there's really just one question. Am I crazy?

I don't know. I upgraded from a 3G, and if you can get the subsidized price.. I would definitely go for it. I mean it's MUCH faster than the 3G, which means it's MUCH more effective as a small computer. I now can look stuff up, reply to a text and jump right back to the page I was reading within secs. Before it was a HUGE hassle. It makes me love my iPhone even more.

How much is the unsubsidized 3GS? Is it more than activation + first month of service + $199 + ETF?

Well considering the white 16gb 3G is going for ~$300 consistently on eBay, I'm beginning to consider jumping to a 16gb 3GS for the cool upgrade cost of about $150.

I wish they would hurry up & jailbreak the 3GS though. I really could have used the app that fools the phone into letting you use wifi only apps over 3G.

nope i did it, all my friends that i know who have the iphone 3g did it. i also helped them craigslist their phones. we all got 300 each for our phones. i even helped one of my friend's dad sell his 3g, so he could get the 3gs. no, you aren't crazy if you can afford it - which you should if your 3g is in sellable condition.

Im the crazy friend in question, I figure I can sell my black 3g on 3.0 Jailbroken for about 330ish with shipping on ebay, since it doesn't have a scratch on it, it has been wrapped full body invisibleshield in a case rebel case its whole life (got it last year on launch day.)

I bought the 32gb black for 530 after tax, to me that means I really only payed around 200 for the new 32gb so im happy with it, and figure once a lot of people can upgrade in December, the price of my original 3g will go down considerably.

First day impressions for the 3GS are awesome, I am glad I got the 32, and even though I thought it was just minor impovements I would notice going from 3g->3GS, it has already transformed the way I use the phone, the quick app switchs and lightning fast load times made me actually want to use the phone for gaming and webbrowsing, and the improved camera and video utilities are icing on the cake, the compass enabled maps came in really handy walking around Cherry Hill today as well.

In my opinion $200 was well worth the upgrade to a phone that does so much so fast and efficient. I honestly cant see myself ever going back to a 3g now.
