Has xbox live been flaky recently?

This is starting to get annoying, I recovered my account to a friends 360 while I was visiting family for the Holidays. Now that I am back home I have been trying to recover my account to my 360 for the past two days unsuccessfully. I have tried over a dozen times in the last two days, sometimes getting as far the the download of my account when I get a s message stating that Xbox live sign up is currently unavailable. If its unavailable why would it let me get this far and then tell me?

That's okay. Even when xbox live is flaky, the xbox users outnumber the 3 people on the Playstation Network.
 
I've had my 360 since sept... and haven't had any problems till the last few weeks. If this doesn't get resolved I won't be happy. I just got CoD4 😡

It seems like it works fine late nights/early mornings while traffic is low. It was fine yesterday up until about 12:00-1:00pm.

Hopefully they will get it fixed today for good..

Yup, this is exactly what has been happening. I've been off work since a few days before Christmas and every day following Christmas has followed this general pattern. Let's hope for better today!

Per Major Nelson things should be on the up and up today: MN on Twitter. Interestingly enough he had to move his blog to twitter because the amount of traffic generated by Digg to his web site brought it to a screeching halt.

One of our customers pays my company $2 million/year for maintenance and support, and I think they bitch and moan less when their server is down than Xbox Live customers on Major Nelson's blog. :Q

Let's just say that when I'm at work and a server is down I just say 'oh well'. When I'm at home and I want to blow up some shit because of a bad day at work I want the server to always be online. 😉
 
i still can't sign in. realized i don't have the dashboard update to allow divx streaming so i can't even enjoy videos instead 🙁
 
That sucks. But I'm glad to hear it's not just me. I'm using a Linksys wireless gaming adapter that my neighbor gave me, so I was worried it was flaky.
It was annoying when a 700MB demo download made it to 99%, then seemed to just disappear.

I don't seem to be able to play the full version of my purchased download of Small Arms....I didn't realize that trial-vs-full XBLA games must be connected to the live servers.

Well the dash doesn't load but I started up call of duty and can play online just fine right now. (at least it seems that way....)

I went to go play last night, and I had problems loading the dash. I tabbed over and was able to start Ace6 perfectly fine ... it's really strange, as I haven't played CoD4 in two weeks now, due to these issues and the profile issues within CoD4.
 
ONe good thing about the xbl downtime is that it gave me a chance to finally beat cod4 on veteran. Now I only have to find all the intel to get 1000/1000 😛
 
Can't connect at all now. Good thing I'm leaving soon... 😉

Wow, Engadget claims this has been going on for 10 days. I wouldn't know since I didn't fire up Live until after Christmas but 10 days seems to be bordering upon the ridiculous for a tech company to not have their gaming network under control. Ah well, thankfully I will probably be too hungover to care tomorrow. 🙂
