Has Trump killed P & N?

Thread quality and participation seems to have taken a dive. I'm wondering if the absurdity of Trump, the absurdity of anything one can say about him, the terribly embarrassing feat required to defend him hasn't driven away more rational conservatives and left more rational liberals rather bored with the whole election cycle.

Does anybody see this or is it just me? If you think the decline is true, what reasons would you give?

Any thread unrelated to the election seems business as usual to me. The absurdity of the election has caused those threads to go sideways but once it's over a collective sigh will hopefully be released and all will return to normal I suspect.

I think anything along the lines of a "real" rational conservative might be avoiding posting there a bit currently.

I think most wouild be hiding under a rock atm.

The unholy adoration of Hillary Clinton make it a waste of time to create any anti-Hillary threads. I can understand wanting to vote for Hillary because of ones opinion of Trump (Bernie would have a solid lead at this point)... But the fervor here for Hillary goes beyond that. Hillary has a highly unfavorable rating everywhere except P&N.

You guys scare me and I don't have Internet access in my safe space.

One of the irrational ones was eventually going to show up I guess.

She clearly makes more sense as a choice than anyone else running.

Adoration is not involved.

If I cared about your opinion I would actually go through the multiple replies to people who question Hillary and prove my point. Well you should get the idea about having zero fucks to give.

Its because the "anti-Hillary" threads are, for the most part, batshit insane.

How about debating policy and contrasting it with a better one you think her opponent has rather than insinuating that she has parkinsons or whatever the hell the current insane theory is?

Not entitely true. It is impossible to criticize Clinton on much of anything without the Correct the Record Clinton fan club and thought police attacking in full force and making all kinds of accusations.

In essence, there's no sane logical reason for defending Trump and his behavior. The only recourse for any reasonable conservative to take is to incessantly attack Hillary and completely ignore Trump's outrageous musings.

Well, that's all good for them as the GOP's tactics are well honed and time tested in this regard. However, what you end up with is comparable to flogging the proverbial dead horse, especially in Hillary's case as the GOP has been at her throat for decades and that engine has run out of steam. Their looped message of Hillary hate has become plain old white noise except to the nutjob base of the party, who, IMO, really do not represent the majority of the party that constitute a body of sane Repubs who see things in the here and now.

Bottom line, the reality that the Repubs face is the fact that Trump's negatives far outweigh Hillary's, and without doubt, Hillary's positives outweigh Trump's in the way of qualifications.

IOW, there's hardly any angle of attack that will bring Hillary's numbers down to a point where Trump will appear to have a reasonable chance of winning, so why even try?

If I were a sane reasoning conservative, it would seem impractical to argue in Trump's favor and if pursued, will only result in suffering from the appearance of being a Trump fanatic with no other purpose but to stoke the fires of Hillary hate.

That's my guess, as seen from the outside in.

I must have missed those threads where policy was debated, the only threads I've seen were YouTube heavy pits of desperation that stank of basements and stale sweat.

Not just P & N.
I dare ANYONE to turn on your TV and turn into any news show, Fox, CNN, MSNBC, and time how long it takes until your hear the name DONALD TRUMP mentioned.
It had been less than 3 seconds.
Now, that is down to zero seconds.
Yes, tuning into any of the cable news networks and immediately all you hear is the name Donald Trump.
New York could get nuked or California fall into the ocean and all the networks would be only talking about what hideous thing Donald Trump did or said or tweeted an hour ago.
You wouldn't even know that CA had fallen into the ocean until you headed out there for your vacation and discovered the coast line now located in Nevada.

I think you'd need to hook up to the ventilation system both exhaust nozzles from an F22 Raptor pulling full afterburner to have any kind of noticeable effect. ;)

The political posts have always had an arguable level.

Back in the days after 9/11 the right-wing nuts attacked anyone disagreeing with Bush as 'the American people elected him and if you don't support the POTUS you are a traitor!'. Then Obama was elected and suddenly it was just fine to call the POTUS a monkey or whatever they wanted.

The crux of the situation here is that an astonishingly unqualified candidate is being pushed by a large plurality of americans to head a major political party. If a decision this ridiculous is being made in any workplace, it rather makes sense people would be similarly incensed and the smart folks can't disassociate themselves from the dumbshittery fast enough.

He is already the head of a major political party atm.

How that ever happened is beyond me, it must have been rigged, ya know.

I sure as hell do not want him as POTUS.

Trump has mainstreamed right wing authoritarianism.

Here's hoping that he also destroys the GOP so that they don't nominate a charismatic authoritarian who can smile, talk in complete sentences, and doesn't have a massively noteworthy past of being a major scumbag.

2020 could be a nightmare.

Could it be the other side does not feel welcomed, or has nothing to say?
Maybe people gravitate towards confirmation bias... and P&N simply does not provide it for Republicans.
Has the forum itself seen a decline in participation? Might not be only P&N.
Social media has likely taken huge chunks of real estate out of forums.
New forum software / theme / looks scared people off?

So many possibilities.

If the US finds its own Marine Le Pen you guys are in trouble. I don't believe that Trump's defeat will end this shit. And he's shown that there is a sizable chunk of the US population that will eat this stuff up. Prettify it with a more 'respectable' face and watch what happens.
