Has Tom Pabst gone completely NUTS now?

In the aftermath of last week's terrorist attacks, Tom felt compelled to write his thoughts on the situation.
As he gets cranked up, he begins to compare his internet rivals with the terrorists, and his own "fight for honesty" with the victims. Here's the link: Saint Thomas Pabstus

And here's a little excerpt:

<< What fun is a rather futile six year long fight for fairness and honesty in the computer scene when some malevolent people who know better enjoy calling you 'shadiest man in the business' or compare you to Jeffrey Dahmer. It's obvious that terrorists are not the only dangerous fanatics out there and the Internet is one of their favorite playgrounds...

...While the people in New York and Washington are clearing the rubble of the mass de..structions, we should do our best and clear the Internet scene from the ones who put publicity over honesty, who put their personal agenda over the benefit of their readers, and who think that loud noises and discrediting others is good enough to distract their readers view from the fact that they have really nothing meaningful to say.
>>

Unbelievable.

Sheesh.

At least there are no anti-America rants from the good Doktor in there...

Yeah, I wanna see Kyle at Hardocp do a Texas chain saw massacre on his a$$ some day. That is usually who Tom is directing his comments at.

Ha, Tom's gone of the deep end. I don't really think Tomshardware will ever reclaim its former glory, the articiles don't have the umph of Anand's or even Kyle's occassional hardware article. He can use a lot of words without saying anything at all. Now that he's gone insane and seems to think of himself as a sort of internet hardware site martyr (IHSM) I think it can only go down hill from here.

I agree with Harvey - to go nuts you have to be sane to begin with. ;)

Hey, Harvey - I was hoping you'd see this one. ;)

Optimus - you hit it on the head. I was wondering if his anti-US sentiments would come out, but apparently they were overshadowed by his self-importance and his martyr complex.

Yeah, we forgot to keep things in perspective by using "Doktor-O-Vision". ;)

Tom just takes stuff too personally. Needs to get a thicker skin.

I don't care what anyone says about Tom. He is awesome and not afraid to publish "raw" feelings.

You could say the same thing about people locked up in psychiatric hospitals... ;)

Yet another reason not to bother to read his site... What a moron.:disgust:

People still read Tom's Hardware? God, he was going downhill when I first started getting into hardware 3 years ago. I figured he'd be gone by now.

Thanks for the compliment Sugar :) I see people bash Tom all the time and am taking up for him. He is obviously doing something right...right? Well anyways...don't sweat the small stuff. :p

You know, if the Tuetonic twit would just think twice before he publishes such nonsense he would save himself a lot of grief and ridicule. I guess it's hard to be humble when you were once king and you long for the past days of glory that he must know deep in his heart will never return..

I have always thought that Tom Pabst is an arrogant arse, and I haven't so far seen a thing that would change my opinion.

how come there seems to be a benign disliking of tom on these forums? i think he's pretty good at what he does, and tells it like it is. what's so "horrible" about him?

Hmmm I didn't really see where he said anything wrong. I kinda agree with him on a lot of points as well. He can be childish, but he runs a good site IMO.

Echoing the sentiment of others, all I can add is that one must remember that these are the rantings of the man who brought us "the first web site officially endorsed by a hardware company" (remember the nVidia Seal of Approval).

You ARE on a competitors forums you know. All that are here must be loyal to Anand! :D Although I like Tom's reviews... he tends to look at things from a more analytical perspective.
