I've saved up a little nest so I wasn't living paycheck to paycheck.

I lost my job a week back :( DOn't want to go into too much detail about it, but my suspicisions in the earlier thread were pretty much confirmed. Heck, I ain't feeling too bad - who'd want to work in such a place eh? I still need the money though...I've got one weeks worth of rent paid and I have no savings so I'll be out on the street if I don't find anything soon.

Parody or not, failed at consistency on the first paragraph. Knew it was pretty much shens coming from you but I read it anyway. 4/10

Ask your savior, I'm sure we will give you a portion of the bailout.

Anyways, -infinity/10.

Go to the food bank. No one's going to give you money. Its every man for himself.

You should have used your stance of dominance on him. He'd have been too scared to "abuse" you.

Hmm...

Pretending that this isn't a joke thread, I would have you rake all the leaves in my yard, dig a plot in a sunny area, and plant a bunch of bush beans, melons, and tomatoes. I'd feed you 3 granola bars a day. When the garden is ready to be picked, I'd give you half the food. Now you can live in a leanto and live off the land. ;)

The fact that so many people are falling for this one should make it a 10/10.

No, those Fiber One bars that give you an overwhelming amount of nasty smelling gas.

Yeah, I didn't even notice the other thread until after reading this one. Still, OP didn't make any attempt to make fun of the other OP. Instead, he created a sad pathetic character out of it.....that's not funny at all.

Maybe things are different in cities, I live in a rural area. Here if anyone is going without food it is their own fault. I know of several businesses that give out food to anyone that truly needs it. Most of the restaurants here are independent and not part of a national chain. I was out the other day at a place that serves chicken and pork and the cook went out the door and handed a bag to a guy that looked really bad, wearing an old coat and a shoe held on with duct tape.

People are also cautious about giving out cash, often it is used for drugs/liquor. I was leaving the grocery store and a guy approached me asking for money so he could get something to eat. I told him I would not give him money, but if he wanted something to eat I had a dinner in my bag I had bought from the deli in the store. He told me no, don't you just have a couple dollars. I again offered him the dinner,it was stew beef over rice with biscuits and green beans, offered to go over the machine to buy him a drink to go with it. He kept insisting he wanted money. I walked away.

If you really get down and out don't forget churches. Even if you are not religious , churches still will help.

Posting this for anyone who might really be in this situation.

I have no qualms about buying someone who's hungry a meal. I do not like to give them cash because supporting it generally supports their bad habits.

I'm a GenX kid.
I have no such thing as nostalgia.

People were just as disgusting and rude and evil as they were in the '80's. The only difference is now we have much better media coverage of everything that goes on in our daily lives.
But we are not any better or worse as a people compared to 20 years ago.

I suspect making a comparison between the 80's and the 60's might be more interesting.
