Has the Rock ever made a good movie?

Wow..watch another one late last night and it was pretty bad. He is no Schwarzenegger replacement. He needs a better agent or someone to develop better projects for him.

Moana and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle come to mind as some of the better films he has stared in.
I know I'm probably gonna catch some shit for this but I also didn't mind The Rundown either but you are overall correct. If you look at his career as a whole it's pretty bad.

GOOD? Not likely, but still fun to watch.

I'm not a fan of Ah-nold Schwartzenactor. Never understood why he was so popular.

I haven't seen all of the Rock's movies. Most of his movies are at best fun camp. I thought the new Jumanji was quite good.

The comparison to Schwarzenegger is that while they both are basically cartoon characters, Schwarzenegger still had a number of standout roles where he was a "serious" cartoon character, like Predator, Terminator and even Total Recall. There's some real stakes in those movies even if they end up over the top. I haven't seen anything like that from the Rock, his Walking Tall remake was close but it didn't seem to end up being a trend. So he ends up leaning more toward the comedic side.

Define "good." Academy Award worthy? No. Entertaining? For me - yes.

I'd rather watch a monkey hump a tranquilized Rock's face in the jungle than watch a woman love a fish man, but hey, that's just me.

Can confirm. That movie was terrible.

On-topic, Moana was good. I also enjoyed his character in DOOM, though that may have just been a guilty pleasure.

Also worth noting he was in an episode of ST:V, and a pretty good one IMHO.

He had a small part in the Reno 911 movie. I thought it was hillarious, but I know it was stupid.

Jumanji was pretty good for what it's supposed to be.
There's the whole Fast and Furious collection. Not my cup of tea, but lots of people like them.
Not a movie, but "Ballers" on HBO is a pretty decent show I guess.
I have to admit, I turned off Rampage about 15mins into it. Man that was horrible.

I`m just saying...…….rofl...….at all you morons who are film critics!! It`s about the money!!

I like The Rock. He just seems like a genuinely decent, cool, dude.

I'd say I like him in "The Rundown" the best.

I’d agree there isn’t a “good” move the Rock has starred in, but I just watch since he’s in it. I mean, I actually made it more than halfway thru “Central Intelligence”. Not sure if it was abhorrence or pure boredom - but 45 mins to keep my attention is pretty good.

“Ballers” is awesome, and I plan to renew my binge watching when we start up HBO Now again once GoT starts...
