I heard that all the pictures on the net right now were doctored...to show what a chip would look like without the pins. I want to know if ne1 has seen one of these pinless chips 'in the wild'.

Ulysses,
Read your link again very carefully. This was the original photo of what a chip with pins removed "would look like"...awardmag.com "admitted" it was a Photoshop creation...he did it to demo the "what if" situation...no deception intended.

But the original pic had the wrong pins, FID, blanked out, so we contacted award and told them about the BP_FID pins. They did a revision with explanation, (before the insanehardware fiasco), and that's what you see now...still "what if"...no claim that will be done. You must have done some "speed reading" and missed that detail.
Gets us sometimes too.;-)

johncar:

Thanks. I thought that was the case, but wanted to put up the link just to present it. For a while I had been trying to find a reliable pic of the missing pins, and I had hoped that this was what I was looking for. I guess that it is (in the sense that the pic is what a real chip should look like without the pins), but at the same time it is not!!

Reminds me of going jackalope hunting once upon a time. :) :(

To www.awaremag.com's credit, they did clearly label their article and pics ("Model...New Image...Edited Image" etc.).
