Well the update is that the part has to be ordered from Germany...so we'll be driving the courtesy car for at least another week. This would upset me more if I wasn't given a car to drive while the car is being worked on. At this point I have nothing to complain about as long as the problem is solved.

See if they comp your gas too, VW comped the gas on my loaner when I had my DSG thingy done cause it took longer than a week

I hope you're doing to the loaner things you'd never do to your own car.

God I hate this mentality. Whether you're borrowing a friend's car or paying for a rental (or loaner), you're still abusing someone else's property. Do you trash hotel rooms when you go on vacation? Throw your dishes on the floor after you finish dinner at a restaurant? If you want to trash your own crap, go right ahead but if you trash other people's property, you're no better than a local graffiti "artist".

Well the dealership called up a few hours ago. The part was received and installed. My wife is still on a trip till tomorrow, so we'll pick it up on Friday.

It was interesting to have the V6 to drive and contrast over the last week...even if it is no longer an option.

V6 observations:
- Smooth and sounds good
- Very linear response
- Not a huge difference between response when transmission is in D vs. S mode. There is a huge difference with the Turbo 4.
- Took trip to Atlanta last weekend with it (flew back over the weekend...wife is driving back tomorrow)...got ~28mpg on the highway...we've seen all the way up to 33 with the Turbo 4...but I wasn't "trying" with the V6...so you could probably get better.
- Could definitely feel the extra weight of the engine when turning.
- Although the power is more linear, the torque that comes on at 1500rpm in the turbo 4 is a bit more intoxicating.
- The wife initially thought we had wasted money on the upgraded Bang & Olufson sound system upgrade...but after a week with the standard Audi system (which isn't bad), she now realizes how spoiled she is with the better system.

Overall I really liked the V6...but I was pretty surprised that I could actually feel the extra 200lbs in the front (and shocked it is that much extra weight). I would probably still buy the 2.0T over the V6 for the value it provides...nearly identical performance, better gas mileage, and was cheaper when they both were offered...not to mention possible performance enhancements with cheap ECU flashes.

It will be nice to pick the car up...still really enjoying it even if we've already had a "warranty issue". It will be interesting to see how its reliability holds up.

Picked up the car...all is good to go. Airbag sensor regularly turns off when my wife sits on the seat. Was hoping the parts cost would be printed on our receipt...but since it was all warranty work, everything was listed at $0.00. Didn't think to ask the guy while we were at the dealership.

Hey Pete, how's the A4 been treating you so far now?

Loving it. It's a fantastic complement to my M3. Smooth, plenty of power, and great for long trips. My wife does not drive it a ton, but we have taken it on some longer trips and are just past 10K miles after 1 year. Everything runs beautifully so far (as would be expected) and the car still drives like we just came off the lot.

Only gripe...I wish I had been able to talk my wife into a wagon...she just wouldn't go for it. The extra practicality would be nice and I actually thinks it looks better.

We still get 32+ mpg (calculated/not computer) on highway trips and have averaged 28 mpg (according to the computer) overall (so subtract 1-2mpg for actual). Not bad for a relatively heavy car with AWD, automatic transmission, and 260 ft. lbs of torque. I'm surprised as the Auto was rated at 27mpg while the manual is rated at 31mpg...so it would be interesting to see what you get with the manual. Really is a peach of an engine for a 2.0L 4cyl. I really think VW/Audi underrates the motor.

I have also come to really love B&O sound system. Music is just so enjoyable to listen to through the system.

I'll definitely keep the forum informed (and truedelta) as the reliability of the car.

One thing I've noted with this car. We always use 93 octane gas, but I have noticed that on long trips, tanks of gas where I fill up with Shell almost always results in ~33mpg...and rarely with other tanks of gas from BP, Chevron, etc. Could just be a coincidence...and I still don't make a point to stop at Shell...just a trend I've noticed on long trips.

my car does it too. I get 29ish mpg when I fill at shell and I usually get around 27 when I fill up with the cheap raceway gas.

VAG 2.0Ts love shell, for some reason. I always got higher mileage with shell than I did any other gas, it was odd.

So it looks like I was not the only one who experienced this phenomenon with Shell gasoline. Very interesting. I thought I was a bit crazy...but the results just seemed too consistent to ignore.

I was under the impression they are pretty much the best fuel you can buy..

My cars don't really care, but it's just something i've heard talked about before.

I generally stick with Chevron/BP/Shell/Mobil with Chevron being my first choice only because I've been partial to the Techron fuel system cleaner in my cars. I have no real proof to back Chevron up...and I have noticed a good trend with Shell gas and the Audi. My other cars gas consumption varies way too much depending on how hard I'm driving it to make any conclusions about how much the gas affects MPG.

when we had a AudiQ7 at 23k three door handles shorted out.

other then that nothing else electronic broke

How many miles did you put on it before you gave it away. I'd be really happy to keep this A4 for a long time and to really test out the reliability...don't know if that will happen if our needs (or wants) change.
