Has IE7 matured enough to upgrade to it?

Windows Updates keeps telling me to upgrade to IE7.

Is it now time to upgrade to IE7 from IE6.x?

It's loads better than IE6. I don't have any issues with it myself - I've updated all the PCs at work to IE7. At first the less computer savvy users complained, but they all caught on to tabs and actually like it now. And it is less of a security threat so my job is easier as I don't have to clean up the computers near as often any more.

Yeah. Only issues noticable to the users are: cleartype automatically enabled, address bar on top of the menu bar, and the inclusion of tabs. When IE7 was first released, the menu bar was hidden by default but it looks like too many people complained about the radical GUI. Anyway if you do not like it, you can uninstall it though people are less passionate about hating it than before.

It's good. Words cannot describe how big of an improvement over IE6 it is (but then again, anything would've been better than IE6).

However, I'll stick with FF and its myriad of addons.

I run IE7 on my Vista machine, I absolutely hate it. I am not a Firefox fan either. I hate tabbed browsing. I love the way that I could cofigure IE6. I still run it on my desktop. I am used to IE7 now, but not a fan.

I'd recommend upgrading. Security improvements over IE6 are a good reason.

One of the most annoying things about IE7 for me is the whole layout, and the fact you cannot change it.

I absolutely hate the way it looks and have never felt comfortable using it.
If it resembled IE6, or had a way to skin it and customize the layout then I'd probably use it.

For now though, Firefox fills my needs much much better.

I would load it anyway, even if you don't use it. It gets rid of using the built-in Windows Explorer interface as a web browser. If you open up My Computer and type in a web address it will open the website in IE7.

I loaded IE 7 last week, it either freezes or it is extremely slow compared to IE6.

I use a dial up modem and I am using Xp.

Does anyone know if IE 7 has problems with users that have dial up?

I'll be switching back if I can't correct the problem.

turn off the phishing filter and the spped should be the same as IE6

I didn't know that anything on dial up can be considered "fast".

I like it. the only thing I am really missing is the ability to save tabs before exiting without having it ask you everytime before you do.

There have been occasional crashes (due to questionable activex usage I suppose) and not being able to respawn the opened tabs really hurts at those times

I've never has any issues with IE7. Vast improvment over 6. It almost convinced me to switch from firefox but I can't beat extensions.

You can install extensions in IE7. Not all of them are free, though.

There is an improvement over 6 but it still has alot of issues that need worked out. Mainly third party extensions, i know thats not all put on MS but there is too many issues for us too fully deploy it at our university. Mainly all our financial stuff, since it runs over IE.

You can change virtually everything about the layout. Look up IE7 Tweaks.

IE7 runs poorly on older/weaker systems, and runs better on Vista than XP IMHO. Recommend :

XP (Required) / Vista
1GB or more Memory
Processor from the past 2-3 years of a decent type (3+Ghz P4/Celeron or newer Intel *all*, Socket 754 or newer AMD *all*)

It works well, I agree with the guy who complained about the layout. Would it have been too much to ask for a way to arrange the icons/menus at the top to be just like IE6 were. Not by default, but at least the option would be nice to have.
