Has anyone used the new Antec cases?

I'll buy a new case to house my new comp at the end of the month and I find the new Performance Plus series from Antec pretty interesting. Do you guys have one, if so is the PSU as quiet as they state it to be (you don't hear it...) and are the two fans that come at the back of the case noisy?. I want to have a nice case for a quiet computer.

Would another case with PSU in the same price range be a better buy?

😉

I'm not sure of the "performance plus" series, but the case I have in my sig is excellent. Plenty of room, easy access (no tools), removable hd bays, dual-fan p/s 350 watt (yes, quiet), all metal, excellent cooling (2 intake 1 exhaust; with snap-in fan mounts (80mm)...excellent all around.

Even thought Antec classifies this as a "mini" tower, it's much bigger than the "mid-tower" Dell case it replaced. So don't be fooled; look at the specs before you buy.

GL.

I also have the SX635 and it is nice but....
- The PS isn't loud, but it isn't quiet either
- The stock case fan is fairly loud, I filled all 3 fan-mounts with Panaflo L1As and tossed the stock Antec for silence

Otherwise a very nice case with a solid PS (no complaints with my K7S5A and these are picky about PSs)

i just saw the new antec cases on their website and must admit they look cool. but i haven't been able to find any reviews on these new cases so i can't comment. but previous antec products have always been a solid buy, so i would go with antec's word that the new psu's are quiet. and another note... the new cases are indeed pricey, and if you can stand a higher noise tolerance, you can save a lot of money (maybe $50) if you went with the older antec models. check out newegg.com and the chieftec cases (i believe they manufacture the cases for antec).

i believe they manufacture the cases for antec

I believe I remember a member on this board saying that he emailed Antec because he didn't get a case badge or something. He said that they told him if the case didn't come in an Antec box with an Antec PSU, it wasn't Antec. The email stated that "anything else is not an Antec product".. I don't know what that means, but everyone seems to love their Cheiftech cases.
Those new cases look sweet! But yeah, pricey, ouch. Antec makes the best cases that I've used, I have built systems in both the 635's and the 1030/40's. Great cases, I don't think you'll hear any complaints about them.

Zukatah,

I just noticed this model CK 6919B case at: KRIComputer

They look just like the Antec's new models ..... (I think) ..... and apparently have a 12cm rear fan ........ !
Available in Black or Beige (my favorite) probably made by Chieftech or ?
Looks like $59. w/o PSU ...... !

FYI, the chenming case at newegg is the same as an antec model but with an enhance PS. it's a very nice case. I've built two computers in it already.

The new Antec performance plus cases look like Antec tried to separate their case from the standard Chenming case. One of the most telling features is the little front USB ports on the lower portion of the front grille. It's covered by a little cover that says Antec.

Chenming makes all of these cases and what makes an Antec case and Antec case is the Antec power supply. You will notice that Enermax makes a similar case as well, but with the Enermax PS and they call it an Enermax case. I have no idea with Chieftec uses as a PS, but it's not an Antec or Enermax PS.

Anyway.. I'd say that if you're buying a Performance Plus case and it has the little USB ports on the front and the Antec cover, I'm pretty positive that you're getting an Antec case. 😉

I don't know if i've got a performance series or not, and I already chucked the box for my SX1035B- and in the shop I work at, we've got identical Chenming cases w/o PSU's... Cheiftec does the same... But mine doesn't have the USB ports on the front... hmm... is this a characteristic of the perofrmance series?

Chieftec uses the Enhance 300w & Channel Well 420w. Channel Well also makes Antec powersupplies.

Front integrated usb/firewire ports are only qualities of the "performance+" series, you can easily add front usb ports by purchasing a kingwin multifunction panel<--comes with usb, firewire, gameport, audio in, audio out, and a lcd for temps =D ($26 i believe), an antec easy usb <--just 2 usb ports, or lian-lis 3.5 bay usb port thingy <--2 usb ports

All are under $30, i don't know the prices on the antec/lianli...
