I know the regular model runs about $100 and the deluxe runs about $200 but I've heard a lot of good things about this box. Have any of you guys every bought one of these or another self cleaning litter box?

Yeah, I find it to be really convenient... I just do my business and walk away... the Litter Maid does the rest!

How did I ever live without one?

Is it a silent self-cleaning box? Most cats do not like the noise of the motor and will do their business elsewhere.

I have one! I spoil my cats. Yes, it is convenient but you still have to check it at least once a day, just to make sure it doesn't jam. The motor isn't all that strong so if the cat decides he wants to shovel all the litter onto one side of the box then it'll jam. I have 2 cats, takes 2 days before the box gets full and I have to empty it. The cats still get litter all over the place, and be prepared for a lot of litter spillage around the box (just the litter, not their crap or anything). But overall I like this a lot more than a normal box. Now I can actually leave my cats in the apt for the weekend and not worry about accidents.

that's why my dad won't try it either, he says that if the cat ever sees the thing moving then the cat will never, ever go near the thing again.

I worked at a Petsmart several years ago, and the return rate on those things was horrible--probably close to 80%. People finally started getting smart and stopped buying the damn things...

Depends on the cat as to whether of not it will like/accept/use the box.

If the cat does not like it, then you're probably stuck with the regular box. It doesn't take long to scoop out the box and then wash your hands. It's not a fun job, but not a hard one either.

Weird, my cats have no problem using it. I started them on it when they were like 6 months old though so that might have something to do with it. They don't really mind the motor all that much, all they really do is just stare at the thing.
