Has anyone used both a Canon S200 and an S400? How much better are the pictures?

I love the digital camera review sites, but those guys could take a better picture with a cell phone than i could with a D60, so it is really hard for me to get a feel for the "everage" quality I am going to get from these cameras. I used an S200, and I loved it. The size was fantastic, but I really would have liked better picture quality. It was actually pretty noisy.

I had an s200, I hated it but forget why. I think it was slow to take a picture, I just sat there like a dolt waiting for it to do its thing.

I've had an s400 for about 6 months now and I love it. You can have it when you tear it from my cold, dead...

I have an S230, but haven't really ever had the chance to compare it with anything else... I find its pics are pretty good though!

i have an S200, i'm happy with what it does :)
I'll only upgrade, when they can upgrade the optical zoom to like 5x or something.

I think optical zoon may not be all it is cracked up to be. You see, you get a heck of a lot less light, so the ISA goes up, and the noise goes up.

I've got an S400, and my mom's got an S200. They've both taken some pretty good pics.

Basically the same quality?
Want to do a test with some side by side shots?
that would be cool.

quality? bigger lense= more light /more options + bigger ccd= quality

if cams same size, generally more mega pixels helps.

either way, u need to spend more... ccds are funky in the way they record colors, its not as if they have one pixel per color, its convoluted the way they basically guess it together;) so more megapix needed.

I've used a canon S330, S230 and S400. I didn't really care much for the S330, too big but the pictures are decent. The S230 is great, fits in my pocket and takes some awesome pictures but only 2x zoom. My uncle bought an S400 and I was playing around with it a little, its about the same size as the S230 and has 3x optical zoom and takes nice pictures.

I have an s200 and I think the quality is astounding considering its size and it having only 2MP. I'm probably going to grab a S50 or a G5 when, for some reason, I need higher resolution.

do digital camera's still have incredibly bad press the button-take the picture lag? I'm a total digital camera noob. Ive never owned one and i've only taken like 5 total pictures with any digital camera before, but I always noticed bad lag, and it seemed like trying to take a decent moving photo (like of a car for instance) would be really tough.
