@ newegg the OCZ PC2400 has a nice price. I am getting a KT266A board. and will probably OC it a little.

I figure if I get PC2400 I have more chance of overclocking the buss to about 150Mhz than if i get some similar price PC2100.

currently both their OCZ pc2400, and 2100 are same price. However it does list the PC2400 at 266Mhz/2 =133. which i am assuming is a typo.

memory is expensive and im trying to get the cheapest thing that will work. what do you think?

PC2400 is not JDEC approved, and speced to run 150MHz. If you do a search for OCZ, you will see it is a hit or miss. I would rather spend a few bucks more on some Samsung, Micron, or Infineon memory from a mfg. with a proven track record like Crucial, Corsair, and Mushkin.

OCZ RAM is a joke.

I bought some of their PC3000 and after I removed the heatspreader I notice Hynix 7NS chips! After I looked up that part number I found out that it's meant for and sold as PC2100 parts. of course PC2100 is what 7NS chips are meant to do and here those idiots at OCZ are selling it as PC3000!

<< of course PC2100 is what 7NS chips are meant to do >>

7.5ns = 133MHz (PC2100)

7ns = 143MHz

6ns = 166.6MHz (PC3000)
