I need to connect a STB to an ethernet Vdsl modem but the problem is that I don`t I have a phone socket close to my TV set. I was thinking about using something like this
does anyone has experience with this kind of stuff. the vdsl is going to be a 10 mbit line and these adapters are rated at 14mbit

From what I've heard on here it's supposed to be good stuff. The adapters include encryption so that information doesn't "stray" on the electrical networks. Personally though, I would consider these D-Link adapters over those.

You probably want to read up the interference issues they can cause since most power lines are unshielded, different adapters have different levels of interference with things like HAM radios.

IIRC the power network stuff had less throughput than regular 10Mb cable so for sharing and Internet connection or something it's fine, but I wouldn't want to transfer large files between nodes via that.
