Just saw it, enjoyed it. Wasn't great, but was entertaining. The best hockey movie (of course, competition isn't very fierce, although Paul Newman gets novelty value) I've seen; definitely the best hockey playing, but they did get a bunch of ex-college players, so it's expected.

Russell did a great job.

I'm using it as inspiration for the game I have tomorrow night, even though I'm Canadian.

better than the Mighty Ducks!?!?!!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

unpossible!

Of course not. I mean, "triple-deke, glove side" really means deke three times, then use a hockey STOP, pause for several seconds, and then fire. Yeah, really. Julie "the Cat" Gaffney couldn't read that shot.

For me it was a must see. Being a hockey player myself I was a mandatory must see. Also I was twelve when they won the gold and stayed up each night they played and watched every game during the 1980 games. Also I have the original Sports Illustrated wrapped in plastic with the team on the cover after they beat the Ruskies. And it was a very good movie. My 14 year old who is a goalie said the movie really made him stop and think about what it takes to achieve something almost unreachable. Wow, for my 14 year old son to see that and realize that was worth the price of admission alone.

I expected more but it was a definite feel-good for those who lived through it. I was 3 when they played in 1980.

"The legs feed the wolf"... truer words were never spoken for hockey. ;)
