I am looking to upgrade my mom's machine sometime in the next few months. Right now the case she has requires a microATX board. I figure at the rate the price on the Abit NV7M is dropping, it will be a very reasonable upgrade with a ~1GHZ duron and hopefully DDR will come down in price (ha ha) by then.

Anyway, I have not come across a single review or user comment about this board. Just curious if anyone has seen anything.

PM me if you have :)

Hi
You want to do exactly what I just did. 1Ghz Duron, 2X128MbPC2100 +NV7M

The biggest problem you might come across is in the positioning of the processor at the top of the board. Not a problem with a normal case, but the HP I tried to do it on was too small, both height wise and depth wise. The CDrom ended up hitting both the processor (by 1 inch) and the memory clips. A regular ATX power supply wouldn't fit either, you need a smaller one... but check the other stuff first.

The board also comes without a Win98 installer - it has XP, NT & 2000???
You can get the drivers from nvidia.com and the very important installation notes they have on the site... if you have Win98 that is.
I also had to turn off the Dolby function and the system I built didn't like the Detonantor drivers... and they are a pain to remove!

It runs everything fine... must be scarry for some having nothing plugged into the PCI slots

It is an OEM board. Abit did not send out any samples for review. That is why there are no reviews.
