Has anyone replaced the screen on a 4s?

I know on the touch you have to remove all the pieces of glass, not sure about the iPhone. How long did it take you?

I've heard the LCD and digitizer are fused on the 4 and 4s. Friend of mine switched all the glass and body on a 4 and it took him 3 hours

I've done it on a 4, it's not too hard if you're technically inclined. It's a lot of screws though so make sure you keep them organized as you take it apart. Also like hans said the LCD and digitizer are fused on the ip4/4s, you have to buy them fused as a kit you can't just buy the digitizer (even though people sell it, it's a scam). Overall though the ip4/4s come apart and go back together pretty nicely, just watch a video all the way through before you attempt it and then you can refer to the video if you're having any troubles.

I've done it on an iPhone 4 as well. As VashHT said, just watch the video once all the way through and then watch it while you do it and pause it. Get yourself a nice brightly lit working area and some small screwdrivers and tweezers and give yourself plenty of time.

i've done this on a Ipod touch gen 4, and I just took it to someone. I literally screwed up heh... oh well..

You have to buy a digitizer + screen assembly. The screen and digitizer are not separate. If you buy just the digitizer, it's a lot of hassle (read: about on par in difficulty with de-soldering a CPU) getting the old screen off, and it wouldn't be perfect when you put it back on.

But if you already got a new assembly, it should take about 30 minutes to 1 hour. Once you get the hang of it, you can do it within 10 minutes. It's not that hard.

I think your only concern should be that some third-party screens on the market are sub-par, and not all of them have the oleophobic coating or the scratch-resistant coating of an original screen.

definitely true.

i bought a "replacement" 3GS digitizer and the glass felt horrible. that and it was defective. so i actually just went on ebay and bought a full screen assembly even thought it was refurb (and had a minor scratch on it) becuase it felt right andworked.

so yeah i know this is about the 4S but be careful about the screen you buy. if its cheap glass itll feel weird
