Whats up with all the wisdom tooth extractions? Are mouths getting smaller? Or did people used to lose more teeth by the time their wisdoms came in and not run out of space?

I got all 4 four removed about 7 years ago. I was actually put a sleep using an IV. All of mine were what they called hard impacted ( below the surface ). I remember waking up at home in bed. My wife, girlfriend at the time, helped me out of the dental chair and into the car. I was soar for about 3 days and felt like a chipmunk. Make sure you keep cotton in the arears to prevent dry sockets. It was really not that bad....
Well, just to let you guys know, bottom two are impacted, and the top two haven't surfaced yet. They said they do not knock people out there. I can have the treatment of laughing gas, and I'll be getting novacaine/somethingcaine. I hope it goes well for me. As for the person who said his tounge was numb for three months, thats what I'm kind of scared of. The doctor said that my two impacted ones are near the nerves. I hope I don't go numb for three months!
3 weeks ago mine were taken out. It was a piece of cake. I credit the antithesilogist (sp?) with giving the exact right amount of dosage. They knocked me out, and when I woke up I was fine...I could walk around and everything but they made me sit in a wheelchair until I got home. I got home, then I got in bed and took a nap. Surgery was around 10:30, got home around 11, slept from 11:30 to 3:30, then got on computer and played around until 7:00 when I made my Dad take me to go get ice cream and a DVD 
. I was drooling the first day, they give you some cotton to use...but other than that I was fine..only used their pain killer the first day, cause you can't drive on it. I went out the next night. Your teeth are a lil sore, so they tell you what you can and can't eat. I only had to rinse with salt water a few times a day for the first 10 days or so...your doctor will tell you.

I did not remove my own but yes I did have them out when I was 18.
