Has anyone received an Asus P5B-E 1.02g ?

My budget won't allow me to go higher than the E6300 so I am looking to overclock. I'm concerned the vDIMM limit of 2.1V will limit me. I need onboard firewire so the P5B-E looks to be a good fit.

If anyone has received the 1.02G could they speak up please ? Also indicate where it was purchased.

TIA
Tony

Man I would love to know myself. Some dink on Ebay is selling one for like $450... what a rip! There's got to be some around. I checked all my local vendors and all are the older revision.

For yet another system I wanted this board but the RAM I have sitting idle is rated at 2.2 V. It probably would not be an issue but still...

I'm wondering the same thing. I've been reading all the hardware forums and it doesn't sound like the c2 stepping 1.02G version is out anywhere yet.

I've seen a few posts on this forum saying that the 1.02g version is going to be a completely seperate board from asus with a different name. That wouldn't surprise me, considering asus has about 10 different c2d boards currently.

Hm-m... while waiting for v1.02 to hit the stores I have read quite a bit about it, but have not come across the information that ASUS is going to release it as a completely different board. Why would they? The only change of substance is the support DIMMs that require higher voltage ...

As far as availability itself -- perhaps we won't see any until the stock of v1.01 is exhausted. Of course, some retailers might offer v1.02 at a price premium, but that won't help them much to get rid of v1.01 ...

I don't wanna wait and get the P5B Deluxe with wifi instead. Price different is only $30 if you get non-Wifi and you have more features like heatpipe, better NB/SB heatsink, 8-phase power design for robust OC'ing and one more PCI-x16 slot.

wtf242, in Europe % Asia the equivalent of this board at 1.02g is is the P5B-E Plus and has been available for awhile. There is no news officially from Asus about a name change in the Americas AFAIK.

I didn't want to shell out $30 for the P5B Deluxe (non-WiFi) as I didn't see the need for dual LAN in my implementation and my PSU only supports the four-pin P4 power connector so and adapter will be required. I'm leaning towards it now though as I need to get this system built.

Is the P5B-E rev. 1.02g available anywhere yet? I want to build a new system with this board, but I can't find it anywhere.

I hope it is the US version of the 5E-PLUS.

If its not, and simply a new revision, I'm jumping over for an Abit QuadGT instead.

I really want solid state capcitors, seeing the last few boards I've had lasted long, but all died because of leaky caps (EPox, MSI, Asus)

while I'm dreaming, can you make that 5E-PLUS, 8-phase as well. 😀

ORDER PLACED 1/23/2007 9:10:24 PM FROM NEWEGG.COM.
RECEIVED 1/26/2007 1:14 PM.

MODEL NUMBER PRINTED ON CIRCUIT BOARD, ABOVE DIMM A1:

P5B-E 1.02G

YYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

still waiting on the power supply to arrive (purchased from another retailer) so no OC numbers yet. BUT 1.02G IS ALIVE AND KICKING!!!!#!#!@!#@!@

*crossposted everywhere*

I just received mine today from NewEgg and it is a 1.02G! Has a sticker on the front of the box saying that it's "Intel Quad-core Ready."

I got it along with an E4300, so I hope to have a little fun this weekend setting this up with Vista Ultimate. I'm also planning on setting up a "Matrix Raid" (0 and 1) with my two 320GB Barracuda ESs. Can't wait to have it all together!

I know this is an old thread, but I still want to ask. Why should I be concerned about the 1.02g? Is this the HW rev?

I ask becuase I am considering this board, but I have been burnt by inferior Asus hw revisions before, 1.04 on K8N-E Deluxe for example. That hw rev doesn't have some of the important OC'ing features that the 1.05 hw rev board has.

Yes it's a hardware rev. and it adds bios options that greatly improve the overclocking ability

1.01 limited vdim to 2.1, 1.02 goes up to 2.45
1.01 had no chipset voltage, 1.02 has NB up to 1.7 and SB voltage also

The 1.02 version has been in the hands of reviewers for months and has won many top overclocking awards. With the right componets this board can go over 500 FSB pretty consistently

1.02G is basically a P5B Deluxe w/o heatpipes & only one PCI-e 16x slot, so of course it overclocks very well 😉

Actually the 1.02G version will be VERY short lived according to Gary Key. There is the 1.03G supposedly in the pipeline momentarily.

😉

That should give us some clues to what's in store for us soon! 1333fsb and 2.5x multi on the giga.. Fun times glad i waited.. I swithed my fav. mobo so many times without actually buying one! Hmmm will it be the 650i or 965 or maybe a bx2 975 or a nice 680i.. Still waiting for the 650 ultra non-sli too..
