i read a couple pages yesterday actually, it was a newer translation and i enjoyed it. it is up there with the dhammapadda and the tao te ching in my eyes. read those 3 books with any amount of sincerity and you'll find yourself a few steps up the ladder of life.

I've read the Mahabharata and most of the Vedas (the Rig Veda, Sama Veda, Yajur Veda and Atharva Veda). Haven't ever gotten a chance to read the Bhagavad Gita.

I've read the Gita.

I have read the Amar Chitra Katha version of the Mahabharata and Ramayana. :D Does anyone know of a good translation of those two stories since I want to read a non-comic book version. :)

There are hundreds of Vedas, there's no way you read most of them.

If i'm not mistaken, the 'Srimad Bhagavad' is like the Quran for muslims and bible for christians while Bhagavad Gita is only a part of it..

the gita is more of a philosophical text rather than a religious one like the Bible or the Quaran

The Vedas are the true books of the Hindus. Some of my orthodox Hindu friends tell me that the Gitas are just story books.

It's more poetic in its descriptions of how to subjugate women and treat them like property than both Testaments and the Koran!

I read parts of it. I also read the kiddy versions of the Ramayana :) One day I will find time to read these texts in their entirety.
