Saw this THREAD in amdmb.com's benchmark forums on a program that calculates PI to a certain number of decimal places to test for CPU stability.
This showed some interesting results (look for my reply in thread) as I had to lower my FSB in order for the program to run. I have been using Sandra Benchmarks and running the usual Games/Programs for a week with my system and thought it was stable until I performed this test.
I was wondering if other OC'ers would have similar problems with this program. I did a search on "Super PI" with no results so I thought I would post this as it may interest this forum.
My system consists of:
Epox 8K7A, 1.33 GHz T-Bird, 2 ea Crucial 256 2100 ECC Dimms.
My OC settings at first were:
1.52 GHz (9.5 x 160), Memory Voltage +.2V,
Mem settings 16-8-8-2-6-2-2. Note my ECC settings were tried at Disable, Correct, and Correct and Scrub with no effect.
When I couldn't run the program I finally lowered the FSB to 155.
Then all worked well.
My CPU temps ran between 44c and 47c throughout the testing.
I was wondering what results fellow OC'ers would get. I viruse checked the files and they were OK, but suggest you do the same since I have no control over its host site.
My results (with the 155 FSB setting) were:
1:24 for 1M
3:15 for 2M
7:17 for 4M
16:36 for 8M
40:19 for 16M
1:31:07 for 32M
Reply to this thread with your scores if you would like (describe system and OC settings as well).
Also, if you happen to see the error of my ways with the OC'ed settings for my first try let me know also.
Thanks
