Has anyone purchased anything from The Overclockerz Store?

I might order one of their "overclocked" cpus and a heatsink from them, need some comments about customer service, satisfaction, etc, they arent on reseller ratings.

I purchased my overclocked Duron from them. I also know someone that bought a similar Duron plus memory and other miscellaneous parts. Neither him or I had any problems with them. I've heard that they have terrible customer service. I e-mailed them twice (before buying something) asking some specifics about one of their overclocked processors, but I never got an answer. That's a bad indication, I'm glad I didn't had to return anything. 😀

I've bought a couple Durons from there and had absolutely no problems with my order. Like Richardito said, everyone says that they have horrible customer service like too many other computer related stores but thankfully I didn't have to find that out firsthand. The CPUs have been going strong for months (almost a year for one of them now).

You might try compuwiz's store for overclocked cpus if you are worried a lot about customer service as long as there isn't a huge price discrepancy in what you want. Though I've never done business with him, as I'm sure you can see he's one of the most respected users on these forums. 🙂

Anywhere but there. Reseller rating is pretty bad. That means lots, about half of their customers will not go back.

Well darn their products were just what I wanted, good price cpu, warranty that replaced a chiped cpu, and the ocz gladiator that I wanted, oh well guess I will keep looking. Compuwiz, I did look at your site, however your prices are a tad higher than average which doesn't work for me (

I have ordered from Overclockerz and was very very sorry and unhappy. Their customer service did not work for me, the low prices I got were more than made up for in the misery they caused me.
On the other hand, although Steve's prices may be a tad higher his service is absolutely the top. You can't get both bottom price and great service, for what he offers product, price and service you can't beat Steve. (unless it's maybe with Dan's elusive trout) 😉

Yeah I guess I won't be ordering anything from them. I love the warranty they offer, but I guess if theres no customer service to support it theres no point. I am just really scared of fubaring another die, so the extra 30 bucks to have the option of replacing the chip once if theres physical damage is nice. I know compuwiz has great cs, but thats no help if im the one that kills the chip (

I just risked ordering 2x256MB PC180 RAM from them. Hope it comes. It was cheap. Even though I don't trust them , I hope it goes through right and I won't have any problems with it. Otherwise, its a call to the credit card company

Yes, that's why you have to be VERY CAREFUL!!!
I can't figure how much you must actually have to reef on a cpu to break it. I've been pretty brutal to some over the years and never broken one. I guess under the right circumstances it would be possible though.
Under normal circumstances and as long as you are careful and have some experience you really should not have any trouble.
So are you saying you think Overclockers would refund or replace your cpu if you actually broke it and it looked like you broke it? Of course that question is moot since if it were anything like my experience you would send it in and then not have the chip nor the money, and no replacement either. A guarantee is only as good as the people standing behind it after all.

I havent dealt with them personally but I know many who have and the story is invariably the same.
Excellent prices but they almost never fulfill their warranty. Shipping is sometimes EXTREMELY late. And it seems as though at least 75% of the time their "guaranteed" overclocked processors do not hit their "guaranateed" speed, sometimes extremely far from it. And theri so called PC166 and PC180 RAM seemingly never does anywhere near what they claim.

I'd say stay away from them like the plague.

If you read about them on resellerRatings they read almost as a nightmare.

Yeah the extra 60 day warranty is about 30 bucks, and if you break a chip, they will return it once. But, I won't be ordering from them...

If a situation becomes ugly use the C.C. company. Credit Card companies will stand by your side and defend you when it comes to warranty issues, etc. If you use American Express even better, they go above and beyond in making sure you (the customer) are happy.

watch yourself! why NOT to buy from OCZ: and yes, they use pencil. stupid people..

1)whats tech support? does that mean they have to answer the phone?
2)huh? processing time is a week?
3)whats a rma?
4)check their reseller ratings. they have been convicted of making up their own ratings to boost their score
5)an example of bad internet business
6)a shame to the subject of economics.

in fact, ocz has been banned from the hot deals forums.. the fact of ordering from then cancels the hot deal.

"One of them actually posts at hardforum, completely childish and unprofessional. He was calling them names and telling to f off and crap. Would stay away. "

"I received an email from them that claimed they were bought out by another company. I just glanced over it before I deleted it so I can't tell you what it was all about. "

I have heard nothing but bad things about this operation. In fact I have seen a few "employees" on this BBS, and their post habits reflect the immaturity of the storefront.

At least on my CPU they used defogger paint and not a pencil. 😀

I'd love to have the amount of business they appear to be getting. I don't understand how they get it, with the reputation they have tarnished for themselves. :Q

I don't understand how they are selling so cheap either. <me scratches head> What I have, barely floats the ship. 🙁

Edit: I just noticed their disclaimer:

<< We no longer set a speed on our Overclocked CPU's We instead set a range of speed which you may reasonably obtain. >>

Also, no mention of base core speed.

Then this:

<< Tbird 1000 NEW AXIAR -Stepping , THESE HAVE BEEN HITTING UP TO 1666 >>

Dream on! I have been testing lots of those, and very rarely do they even go 1.45GHz BS! No wonder people are buying, they are being sold to believe something that is just not true. Then it becomes easy to understand the ratings, due to "oversell and underdeliver".

my duron 600 was a pencil

Even if Compuwiz's prices are a little higher, I wouldn't hesitate to buy from him. At least you know for sure what you are getting, and who you are getting it from.

I bought 256MB of PC166 from them, and everything went off without a hitch. They have good prices and products. Sometimes you just have to take a risk. I will buy from them again.

"Sometimes you just have to take a risk."

To save a few bucks? No thanks. I'd rather spend the extra bucks and deal with reputable people.

For people buying memory from them, DON'T

I bought 4 128meg PC150 chips from them, when I got them I ended up with PC166 sticks instead. Your thinking, "whats wrong with that?" Well, there websit says PC166 at 2-2-2 settings. HAHAHAHA, the ram wont even boot at 133Mhz at 2-2-2. Once I was a ble to get into windows (PC100 memory settings..eeww) I started up SiSoft Sandra and guess what I found out about the memory. The memory is rated for 2-2-2 up tp 125MHz and 3-3-3 upto 167MHz. I was unable to get it to run at above 160Mhz at 3-3-3 and even then windows ended up crashing.

The memory is crap and the whole store is crap. Who the hell would buy a cpu that they say will overclock to XXXX when you can get a the same speed cpu cheaper else where knowing that it will reach the same speed.

Someone needs to bring that store down.

I'll second the vote to order from Compuwiz - I bought some stuff from him and was 100% satisfied! Yes, you might be able to save a bit of $$ buying a cpu from OCZ, but when it doesn't work as promised and they won't give you a refund are you really saving any money?
