I pre-ordered it for the 360. I enjoyed mass effect on the 360 and on the PC it kept crashing on me. So this time I'm going to just go 360.

About the only time it's crashed on me is when I ALT-TAB out to look at something else. I found that by pressing ESC first to pause the game fixed most of the crashing.

Digital downloading has rendered pre-ordering to avoid a sell-out moot. I'll only pre-order for substantial discount on a game I know I'll want and if I'm not burdened with a ton of other unplayed games at the time.

I pre-ordered Left 4 Dead 2 because the 4 pack discount brought the game down to $33.75. That was a good buy. Otherwise, I tend to agree that pre-ordering is not worth it.

I always wait until the reviews are in, look what happened to Farcry and Farcry 2. I paid $19.00 for Farcry 2 but I would not pay $49.00 like when it first came out.

This is a Bioware game, correct? I've not played ME1 but I hear it was very good. Will ME2 be the same tie-your-hands-behind-your-back linear storyline style that Dragon Age was? I just finished DA:O and I'm still looking for a good RPG, but I want one where I can roam and explore and not be forced along a linear track. Will ME2 be the same sort of game as Dragon Age?

Thanks.

Preordering is stupid. What, you think it will sell out? When has that ever happened, except for very limited collectors editions?

The last game I can recall there being a "shortage" of was The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for the SNES. Where I lived at, they sold out instantly everywhere. I had to be driven 30 minutes from my small town to a bigger town, where they were sold out everywhere but one place when I got mine.

Wii Fit sold out everywhere also for a while.

I used to preorder and pay in full at gamestop when I knew I had extra money and it would not bother me. The only Collector's Edition I ever bought was Diablo 2.

This is how Bioware games generally are... They sacrifice all-out freedom and instead focus on making the core game and storytelling very polished. Bethesda's games are on the opposite end of the spectrum, but I (so far) prefer Bioware's style.
It'd be nice if we could get both in the same game :).

More on topic, I'm going to end up with the Collector's Edition on release, but I haven't preordered yet. Too skeptical about release dates, I suppose.

Yea I definitely prefer Bioware. Bethesda games do give you a lot of freedom but you give up a lot like good voice acting and good storylines. Also since you can roam wherever you want you just don't get the sense of caring about the people you're helping.

Yeah thats one of the cool things about PC games. They start lower and drop faster.
Also, sometimes they disappoint and it wont matter how cheap you got it.
Master Of Orion 3 totally killed my faith in sequels. I was sorry I got it before reading lots of user reviews.

i preordered for 360. it's going to cost me $60 either way and i'm not missing the 5 bucks i put down.

stores around here do run out of games. best buy will run out of anything that's just been released that day, or maybe even just that week, so long as it doesn't suck (or maybe even if it does, in some cases). gamestop probably has a little more stock, but i wouldn't ever expect them to have something like halo, gow, gta, et al on launch day. mass effect isn't quite that popular, but it's pretty big.

I kind of want that Iron Man armor from Amazon.. I mean "Inferno" armor though. LOL I agree that pre-order gimmicks like the bat weapon in L4D2 is silly, but that armor looks sweet! And I already know that I will love the game based on how much I loved #1. So I'm considering pre-ordering.

What I'm really curious about is how it's suppose to carry your save file from ME1 over to ME2, cause me and my friend beat the game on his 360, but now I wonder if it's worth $10 buying it on the PC and and beating it again for this story carry over. Thoughts?

Preordering is the way to go! I have Amazon Prime so I preorder for NO money down and I get release day delivery "free" (no cost above Amazon Prime membership).

Preordering guarantees me a copy and at the best price as I've yet to see Amazon get beat in cost. Finally, I get the preorder bonuses (more and more games are getting these nowadays).

For good cost, instant delivery, and bonuses all for NOTHING out of my pocket why the hell wouldn't I preorder?!

I'll wait until it gets cheap. I bought ME1 the first week and I must say that it was a huge let down.

It did have a lot wrong with it. The only things that kept me hooked were the story and the voice acting. Other than that it was very buggy.
