Ok, going to share a true lottery story....

I have played hockey with the same bunch of guys for the last 3 years now. All of them are a great bunch of guys and we have a blast playing on the same team together. After every one of our games, we go out for beer and pizza typically. There was one guy who drove this crappy honda civic with about 120,000 miles on it. His equipment was decent, but he was always poor. Someone always picked up part of the bill for him for the last couple years.

Then, about 6 months ago, I see the poor guy shopping for some new knee pads. He opens his wallet to pay for the pads and he has a friggin roll of 100 dollar bills in his wallet. Well, discussions in the locker room hit full force and he came out to admit something...

He had won the lottery about 3 years ago. Lump sum payout of 32 million dollars. He is really tight with the money, so he drove a crappy car and used the same crappy hockey equipment until it was on the verge of falling apart. Now, this also the same person we have been buying pizza and beer for. This was going on for the better part of 2.5 years!

He went 5 months buying us pizza and beer once a week. Now he has sufficiently repaid us so life is good and we are back to paying individually now.

Still, a hillarious story nonetheless. :)

great story. I guess he's one of the 20% that doesn't piss away his lottery winnings.

Seriously. Save that $$$ and spend it on snack or something. YOU WILL WASTE THAT MONEY.

I used to think the same thing... a friend from town here used to buy lottery tickets...

His DAILY DRIVER is now an SL65 AMG ...

Won 25,000,000 on January 16th 2004.

Edit : This was $25 Million Canadian as well... no taxes on that... :)

Did you know him when he won? Tell us about him winning the lottery from a social aspect.

Yeah I have known him for a few years... He hasn?t really changed much as a person... well - he has a lot more money and some really nice stuff... but he's still the same guy... :)

Built a really nice new house on the water, bought himself an SL65 AMG and a Ferrari 360 Spyder for his wife... the rest of the money is in savings and in his business.

He owns a Jewellery store in town... ever since he won the money it has been closed for renovations as he is upgrading pretty much everything and doubling the size...

He told me a few months ago that it was not as great as it sounds... Ever since he won he has been hounded by people calling him for "business opportunities" and wanting to borrow/have money to help their sick family, etc... He has had to change his number multiple times and has even had his family threatened if he did not give money...
