Yes, although I'm not 100% sure how.

I got in the car, turned it on, put it in reverse, the doors locked automatically when I put it in gear, I saw the paper under the wiper, put it in park, got out to take it off, and the door was locked.

I swear I have no idea how it locked behind me when I got out.

Supposedly the doors on the '04 Ion didn't auto-lock until you hit 25mph, but there I was, in the parking lot.

My parents have an RL that will reopen the trunk if you close it with the fob inside

When we bought the car, the salesman demonstrated how it's impossible to lock the keys in the car. He tossed the fob in the car closed the door and pushed the button on the door handle to lock the door. The car beeped and wouldn't lock.
About 3 months later my wife locked the fob in the car.

I almost have several times, but my car won't lock from the outside if it senses a fob on the inside.

Despite being 36, I still use a backpack for my laptop, etc. I keep my fob in there, too. Every now and then I'll go to toss my pack in the truck, but thankfully the car won't allow the trunk to shut.

Nope. The modern Nissan key wont let you.

Not that I've ever had this issue, but its nice somebody, somewhere, thought of that situation.

I had something potentially more problematic.

One of my cars just senses your key in your pocket and you have full control of the vehicle. Well I dropped one of them in a crack between the seat and the center console, where I swear you would have had to take the whole car apart to get to it.

Eventually I just gave up, so for 2-3months, all anyone would have had to do was walk up to the car and open the door, and the push-button starter would have worked just fine.
