I accidentally minored in Latin - the head of the classics dept was a world-class scholar, and I didn't know any greek but I'd had 4 years of HS latin, so I took one of his latin courses to see what he was like. Turned out he was a fun guy and a great teacher, so I took a bunch of classes. Imagine my surprise when it was pointed out that I had accumulated enough for a minor.
It comes in handy when I do crossword puzzles. It's strangely useful at boring social occasions, when some pompous idiot tries to show off their classical knowledge and I can either laugh quietly or cruelly correct them.
Other than that, useless. Unless you love latin for its own sake, don't bother.
