Oh, and do NOT just listen to the tapes. Go find someone who speaks it natively and try to spend some time with them. It helps a LOT. Immersing your brain always works a little better. Find a spanish radio station, favorite some spanish channels on your hi-fi modern digital cable, watch Youtube, etc. Dont just grind away at formal lessons.

Yeah, for a while, I watched spanish soaps with my fiancee. I learned some spanish then....

I learned watching the Simpsons in Spanish with English subtitles and vice versa. Made learning the language painless.

Yeah, he missed the conjugation. "Bebe" or "bebé" are conjugations of the infinite form "beber," but "bebé" used as a noun means baby. 😵

Spanish is otherwise very clean, orderly, and intuitive. A few subtle complications like the above are the exception. If the OP is going to learn any language as an adult, Spanish would probably be among the easiest.

Caramba means Carajo(dick), it's kind of like saying fudge instead of fuck.

So it's like saying ah, fudge(fuck). The use may be different, though, as in situations used, the degree of negativity it denotes(or positivity even).
