Has anyone here ever heard of this site?

Hi guys,

Does anyone know anything about this website:

http://www.netaksharee.com

Just for kicks, I googled my username for this forum, and one of the first hits on page 1 was for that site.

My username and several of my recent posts from this forum were copied exactly word for word on that site.

Go here to see what I mean:

http://www.netaksharee.com/author/chrstrbrts

All of those posts were made here originally by me within the past month.

The site is powered by WordPress, and it appears to be a blog were you can reply to posts.

I did some research on the pedigree of the site itself e.g. owner, IP address, which company registered ownership, etc.

But, I can't find an "about" tag anywhere. That is, I can't find a mission statement for the site.

It seems to be a collection of hackeresque questions, comments, and general posts from other sites.

Any idea how my recent posts from Anandtech might have ended up there?

Thanks.

Scraped to "create" content to show up in Google search results and drive traffic to that site.

Sites like StackOverflow get scraped the same way. It's a cheap way to get instant content and make it look like your site has users.

Hm. Could you, if you were unscrupulous enough, use the same paradigm to generate revenue by tricking Google into thinking that you have more traffic than you really do?

For example, you create and host a bullshit website that offers limited, lame content.

Next, you add some Google ads for which Google will pay you half a penny per page view.

Then, you create a bot army and tell each soldier to go to your site.

Google will think that you have thousands of visitors a day and send you a check for thousands a month in ad revenue.

Do people do this kind of thing?

Yeah, it's a scrapper. I don't allow this to happen at my site with the script I run. God knows how many other people get their shit scrapped. :awe:
