Has anyone had probs installing software from a CDR to HD on the same IDE channel?

My GF is getting ready to get a burner. (welcome to the 21st century, honey

) I'm planning on making the CDRW master on IDE 2 (by itself on that channel) and making the HD master on IDE 1 and the CDR slave on IDE1.

I'm worried about getting errors/crashing while installing from the CDR to the HD. Are my worries unfounded or what's the dealie.?

You shouldn't have any crashes or errors, but you might take a slight performance hit when installing programs from CDs since the hard drive and CD-ROM will be on the same channel. Why not just put the CD-ROM on IDE 2 so it won't be on the same channel as the hard drive? I would do that unless you plan on doing a lot of on-the-fly disc to disc burning.

I think it's better MichaelD's way. You will lose some performance but hey, it's better if you plan on doing some on the fly copies.

I think it`s down to personal choice etc with this,I`ve my HD on its own on primary, and DVD and CDRW on secondary channel .My CDRW is slave on that channel, never had any problems yet.Btw use a good program like Nero etc and you should be fine.
