Has anyone had any success taking the metal CPU backplate off an Asrock K8S8X?

I ordered an XP-90 and it should be here soon, but the backplate on the K8S8X seems to be attached with some sort of adhesive (have remove the K8 bracket and put on a P4 bracket for the XP-90). Any suggestions on how to get it off?

It wouldn't damage the board with that excess heat??

Nope, Abit bakes their boards during stress tests. I would think any other board should be able to handle it. DOn't forget that cpu can heat up the area under the socket pretty good, so a hair dryer shouldn't hurt it.

Yep, now wether the heat will loosen up the glue enough to come off without part of the board coming with it  is another matter ;)
