Has anyone had any experience with HDMI over Cat5?

I believe you need dual cat 5s to run it. HDMI uses 19 wires IIRC. With Cat6 you only need one wire. That's about as much as I know.

Try the AVS forum. I have read some about it there.

yeah, i was on a construction job a while back and there were some AV guys doing an install. they had to do a long distance run, and used dual cat5 lines. they said it works great. you can get a converter box that will convert the cat5 to HDMI & vice/versa.

edit: i noticed you linked a box, it supports DTS-HD, but i wonder if it supports TrueHD as well.

My installer put in the cat5 baluns to run HDMI to my projector ( room was only wired for BNC/Component). It takes two cat5 cables to do it.

Only problem I had was with overheating of the balun near the projector because of the way it was fastened directly to the body of the projector, undid that and the balun worked like a charm without problems ever since.
