I made a post not too long ago about hernias, but this is specifically about sports hernias. Im pretty sure I have one and i think i'll make an appt to figure it out for sure, but in the inerim, has anyone here had one?

any advice? how severe was your pain?

You know what's funny, I think I have one. I can't offer any advice whatsoever. It's weird, it feels like I've torn an abdominal muscle. I've had it for about 2/3 years. I think it's like an entry level one that never popped fully through (if that makes sense.) I'm older but relatively active (39, soccer, hoops, swimming) and have been wondering this myself for the last couple years. If it was a "pulled" ab, it would have gone away or healed I believe. So it's either torn or I think I may have something more serious. Now that I've completely hijacked your thread, what are YOUR symptoms..?

Yeah I've had one, and let me tell you it sucked. Wanna know how I got it? Chalk up what I'm about to write as "TMI", so if you're squirmish about such things, please stop reading!

About 10 years ago, an ex-girlfriend of mine was riding me very hard. She happened to be very slender. Well, her ass bone/pelvis/whatever bone speared right into my patch area. That bone literally stabbed me and mangled/mashed everything inside but did not break the skin. It was 6 months before I had it checked out because I figured it would get better on its own. It didn't. And yes it hurt. Sort of like a hot burning (insert joke here) pain.

Edit: I was in great shape at the time, so I opted for rehab instead of surgery - about 4 weeks of it iirc.

My son had an Inguinal hernia when he was born. He had surgery at 6 months to have it fixed.
