Im planning to stay at a hostel for one night in salvador, Brazil. I already found a safe and reputable hostel, i am just in the process of making a reservation via hostels.com. How safe is the site? Is it safe to give my credit card number? Or should i just use my paypal account? Thanks

I figure I book a trip, pay that....... and take at least 4k with me just in case. Cards and Travellers checks.

I'm never going to get stranded again. I almost did when the cruise ship almost left without us in Cozumel! My wife and I were told to wait "HERE" after a special expensive excursion to be picked up later. We waited for so long and then said fuck it........... We had to run about 2 miles to catch the ship on time.

Never again.

I've used bookhostels.com twice and had no problems. Just print out the receipt with your deposit so you don't get overcharged when you pay the balance. The place I stayed at in Colombo tried to add the deposit to the bill.

Edit for spelling...

Im going for this program for 2 weeks.. The program doesnt start until the 3rd. But im going to arrive there the 2nd due to airplane ticket fares. So i need a place to stay for just one night. Theres no point in spending $90 for a hotel when all i need is a place to drop off my things and just spend one night in...

But yeah thanks for assuming jackass.....

I would think you don't even need a reservation to find a place to stay, but hostels.com is legit.

I've used hostels.com a few times to book hostels in Europe and the middle east, all but one time it went smoothly, the last time was just a quick delay because they couldn't find my registration but I had printed the receit and all good. :)

If you are wary, send the hostel an email, call them, go to their website.

And for the person who said that negative thing about traveling with no money, it's fun traveling and getting by with the bare essentials. Afterall you can't go on a 3 month excursion and stay in expensive hotels every night. Hostels and backpacking are the way to go.
