Has anyone ever seen a device such as this available in the US?

$525 for something like that? Flash memory is dirt cheap these days. I'd rather carry 10 of them around than to fork out that sum of money for a single purpose device.

Better yet, $525 gets me an Ultrabook which I could use as storage and for post processing if needed. Still, I doubt an average duration of a family vacation would require 320GB of storage for pictures and videos.

I travel regularly with digicam and laptop. The latter has never been irrelevant. The storage device has no Internet capability for daily checking of email, financial accounts, investments, etc. When my laptop becomes too much for me to carry, I will likely move to an ultrabook.

The device is cute, but marginally useful for me.

Thanks for the link. Reviews stink so I'll pass on these. If these aren't relative, what is? I go on a few long distance motorcycle adventures and lugging a laptop is a PITA. Something like this would be ideal.

You do realize that you could get 300GB of SD cards for under $250 and save the hassle of swapping cards into some little proprietary device (and dealing with its battery, etc).

They (being SD cards) would fit in your wallet (or wherever) and would be re-usable in your camera later.

This device doesn't seem worth it. I am not surprised they were never popular.
