Has anyone ever hit anything with their car? What did it feel like?

I have an irrational fear lately, for some reason, that when I hit a bump, etc. I fear I may have hit a dog, cat, animal, person, etc. Especially when driving in the city.

It's probably because I don't own a car anymore, so I rarely drive... maybe once a month now. So I'm not as experienced and I'm not used to seeing "all around the car" as much as I used to be.

On days like today where tourists are out in abundance, I'm almost constantly slamming on brakes, etc. to avoid hitting people crossing the road illegally.

So to put my mind at ease, has anyone here ever hit something, like a deer, small animal, etc.? If so, is it something you'd definitely notice if your tires hit it?
 
I've hit a deer, raccoons, a cat, some squirrels, birds, etc. You'll definitely know if you hit something.
 
I hit a big turtle. It really hurt; it was like hitting a curb at 40.

I can barely drive it in heavy rain. (Being rwd doesn't help.)
Car is 100% useless in the snow, especially since I have summer tires. 😛

Don't worry. If you hit something that matters, the popo will show up at your door at some point.
 
i've hit a tree, and a brick mailbox..


both felt WAY harder than you'd think.. the tree actually knocked me unconscious

I hit pigeon once. I barely heard a thud but I saw a big cloud of feathers behind my car.

I also hit another car once, side on. I honestly don't remember the impact. I think I must have blacked out for a second during the impact.

I never hit anything but had a few close calls. A few times with a squirrel, was the same one, he never learned it seems. I'm hoping he eventually did or someone else may have hit him. 🙁 I also had a few close calls with dogs and cats. Stupid owners letting them lose. All times I was able to safely swerve or slow down. I drive based on the conditions, and not like a maniac like most people in my city, so I can usually react to this stuff.

I did get hit once by another car. Side swiped to be exact. Was a hit and run, the guy drove off. I did not feel much so figured it was just scratched up. Drove home, the entire head light was ripped right out. Funny how damage can be so bad yet you hardly feel anything.

I did hit a post once, at like 0.1km/h. 😛 Was parking and they have these posts that are on concrete blocks to delimit the parking lot. I was trying to squeeze closer as my car was sticking out too much, and I just saw the post move a tad. I'm like "oops did I do that?". No damage though. lol
