Has anyone ever heard of "Ghirardelli" chocolate?

I wasn't aware of it until now.

Chocolate facts:

Chocolate should be kept wrapped tightly in a cool, dry place with a temperature ranging from 60-75°F. If the storage temperature exceeds 75°F, some of the cocoa butter may appear on the surface, causing the chocolate to develop a whitish cast, known as "bloom". The chocolate will still, however, be fine to eat. In hot climates or during the summer, chocolate can be stored in the refrigerator, although this isn't ideal as the chocolate may absorb odors from other foods. Dark chocolate actually improves with age, like a fine wine, if stored in an airtight container at 60-65°F.
 
They are sort of like the Honda of chocolate.
Callebaut and Valrhona are the Ferrari and Lamborghini of chocolate.

I tend to agree.
They are eating chocolates while Callebaut and Valrhona are cooking chocolates.
 
its ok, but i dont think it can compare to Godiva or even dove (which i think are on the same "level" sort of)
 
I'm glad I have blue-collar tastes. I have had very expensive chocolate, and I still much prefer Hershey's at 1/10 the price of the fancy stuff.

They sell that stuff everywhere chocolate is sold. Heck, the Ghirardelli chocolate chips are right next to the Toll House morsels at the grocery store.

Now, if you want some REAL chocolate, try Scharffen-Berger


Oh yeah, and I'll side with ActPrincess. Godiva > Ghirardelli. Dove dark chocolate > *
 
Yes. They sell chips and squares of it at the supermarket next to the hershey's and nestle's stuff, but I don't think it's any better. They also sell it at one of the mall stores, Macy's or Burdines I think, maybe JC Penny's too... I got a free sample one day, was also 'ok'.

I know Macy's sells it for sure.. Never heard of Burdines and I don't remember seeing it at JC Penny's..

Their factory in SF is awesome too. 😀

Burdines is a Florida based retailer, so, probably why you haven't heard of it. They are owned by the same company that owns macy's. They are in the midst of restructuring and I Think Burdines is going bye bye... but anyway... they both sell ghiardelli I'm pretty sure.

News Link, interesting because some malls have both burdines and macys (not many) and in those they plan to leave both with the 'same store name' so there'll be two 'burdines-macys' in the same mall. Joy.
