Yes we use it quite a bit in the school system and no way would I tell you how to "break" it.

I use it quite a bit in the school system and would like to hear if it is possible to "break" without the use of another boot device.

i was inquiring about the software because the companies site says that if you can "break" the software, you get $500. if you knew what you were talking about, at all, you'd know that.

Yeah...it looks like there was a reward offered at some point but I don't think it is still in effect.

either way, i didnt appreciate darkamulets attitude. i didnt think it was warrented, as i am one a few administrators at the school im in, and we are currently in the process of testing the software out for next years new batch of computers. granted, he didnt know that, but he could have been a little nicer about that. anyways, as far as i knew when i make my origional post, the reward was still being offered, at least from what i was told.

Darkamulet's attitude is the result of countless posts from people asking how to get around their school's/parent's/employer's security measures. To be fair, if he had not called you on it, I or someone else would have.

If there is no unprotected boot device then it is next to impossible to crack it.

If you leave a boot device unprotected, then you can boot the machine into DOS and there is a work around.

Your best bet is to install deepfreeze and lock the machines down totally, and then lock down the BIOS.

If you can boot from floppy, you might as well throw your entire security system in the trash can since it's about 30 seconds to blank the admin password.
