Has anyone ever counterfeited casino chips?

That memory of yours is amazing.

That conversation was like 14 years ago. I remember that it was too difficult to counterfeit chips and that's all I needed to know. He went on to tell me how some were able to successfully cheat Vegas for millions and that's what I was paying attention to at the time.

I have a small collection of metal (silver dollar sized) casino tokens.
Each casino used their own coin/token design.
Casinos used them in dollar slot machines until they've now switched to electronic credits for everyday usage. But you can still exchange them (the metal casino tokens) for paper Federal Reserve Notes at the cashier's window.

There's also $10 tokens that contain silver inside a brass ring:

I'd imagine you could fake them, but it would be rather easy to get caught if you're doing to cost effective or doing it for any substantial amount of money. The cost of making a passable fake chip worth changing and then the time playing enough to break it down to other chips is unlikely to be even remotely worth it.

So I walk in with $100 worth of fake $5 chips. Put them down on the table, along with another $100 bill to get more chips. Play blackjack for 20 min or so, lose on average lets say $30. When I'm playing I bet the fake chips every time so that, with turnover, by the end of the game all my $170 is real $5 chips. I go to the window.

I've just made $70, in a few minutes, and had some fun playing blackjack.

What am I missing?

Thinking you only lost by $30.00.

the time and money spent getting the correct chips then printing the color codes and logos. oh and getting caught and going to jail.
