When you guys are using handguns, how do you steady your hand when you pull the trigger?

I've only shot with airsoft handguns, but with my gun arm at nearly 180 degrees, pulling the trigger causes my shot to go off most of the time.

2 hands. Lock the elbow of the main arm.

You don't yank on the trigger, you gently squeeze it.

It's fun. I always wear ear plugs AND muffs. Not all range will give you a formal(or informal) training on safety, but you can always ask for tips/training/etc. I'd recommend .22 or 9mm to start, but I think many people recommend revolvers for beginners. I started out with a semi-auto because I thought semi-autos looked cooler. :D It's fun for about 100-150 rounds, then it gets kinda boring and I start to lose my focus.

Raise the gun and line up the sights, take a deep breath and exhale slowly, then gently squeeze the trigger while keeping the gun lined up and as steady as possible. As you shoot more you will get better at it and your hands will develop the muscles needed for holding the weapon and squeezing the trigger smoothly.

Or you could do like my wife and close your eyes right before you yank the trigger. She frequently shot the floor the first time I took her shooting.

yes. that was one of the tips that i got from my friend also. you pull the trigger after you took a breath and exhale, never when you need to take a breath, never when you're holding it, but always after / while you exhale, very slowly. i now do it as one of my routines for putting, it made my whole body more steady.

The fact that you've got "Replica" written down the side of your gun. And the fact that I've got "Desert Eagle point five O" written on the side of mine, should precipitate your balls into shrinking, along with your presence.

I've never held a gun in my life, much less shot one. But it looks like I might be checking one out next weekend.

Go to a range in your area and ask them. They usually make good suggestions. If you're in the Atlanta area go to Ed's Gun and Tackle. Most places rent guns and ear plugs. Start with something small, like a 22 or maybe a 9mm. Just be careful because the kickback will suprise you the first time. Make sure it's a double action and for God's sake ask how to use the gun and pay attention, no need to leave a bullet chambered and shoot yourself.

I've never been to a civilian range. We have an indoor one inside the PD and an outdoor one a few miles out of town.
