or maybe they're not... i dunno my only gauge is that i've been seeing more and more posts in ATHD about 6-7.99 cds from decently known bands. just curious if anyone else has noticed this... is this because of that ruling that said the record labels were guilty of collusion...?

I've seen a lot of CDs that are below $10 the first few days they're out, and then they go up to $14 or so.

Yea, I think they try to start them cheaper to encourage more buying, but after a few days they bump them up again.

When you factor in bandwidth costs time looking for the right songs I'd say about the same price depending how many you get:p

I've been paying between 7 an 18 bucks for cds recently. most are in the 10-12 price range ... probably 80 of the last 100 cds i've bought were less than 12 bucks

CDs are really cheap. I usually get 50 or so at a time for < $3 after MIR. :D

I haven't bought an actual retail CD in a long time though so I dunno.

$18 for a CD? wow, I have second thoughts paying that much for a DVD, much less a CD.

CDs are a bigger ripoff than they've ever been. Only idiots buy CDs. Seriously, if you buy a CD and pay full price for it, you are being an idiot! (Unless you plan to pirate it to countless others.)

Why do I say that? -- because the RIAA is an illegal collusive oligopoly and it's our duty as consumers to realize that and destroy them financially. Capitalism needs to remain capitalism. Oligopolies are not capitalism.

I was just at Camelot yesterday when I was planning on buying my yearly CD and all of the cds I liked (mainly older classic rock bands) were at least $19. Screw that. Some cds even had the tenacity to say "$21.99 on sale $19.99"

You know what happens when artists stop being compensated for their work? They stop making art because they're too busy trying to pay the bills. All this RIAA crap is simply a means of justifying thievery. It's easier to steal than it is to buy.

I'm not talking about Creed or Sum41 or any other MTV tripe. I'm talking about REAL music.

Something that wasn't bestowed popularity by MTV and thus needs not put out quality to survive. Not to say that any band who makes a video is crap, lots of great bands have made great videos. But these days...I don't know.
