Has anyone cleared the CMOS on a DFI NF4 w/ a dual-core Opteron?

I had to clear the CMOS on my DFI NF4 Ultra-D a week or so after installing an Opteron 170 processor. However, after clearing the CMOS, the computer hangs if I try to enter the BIOS. It will boot into Windows and run all apps just fine.

Has anyone cleared the CMOS with this mobo/CPU combo and then still successfully entered the BIOS? The DFI support gurus on dfi-street.com are telling me that DFI NF4 boards don't support Opteron processors, and that Opterons can cause strange DOS/BIOS issues like mine.

I have reflashed the BIOS and cleared the BIOS (following the exact correct procedure) multiple times, but I am still unable to enter the BIOS. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I am going to try installing a regular A64 CPU tonight and see if that allows me to enter the BIOS.

I had to clear the CMOS a few weeks ago because of too aggressive OC settings. I have an Opteron 170 and Ultra-D. No problem getting back into BIOS. That's a very strange problem.

I've (so far) had no problems with my Ultra-D and Opteron 165. I've only reflashed and cleared the CMOS once.

Have you tried to flash it with winflash? If you do, make sure to flash all the blocks, though that will erase any current settings. I kind of had the same problem using the 702 big toe BIOS, and a winflash to a real bios fixed it, but only if I flashed everything. Good luck.

Yes, I used Winflash on all blocks. I'd reflashed 3 times in this fashion now, and I still can't enter the BIOS.

hmmm, really strange problem, have you tried flashing to an older BIOS that works? Opterons shouldn't cause a problem since it should be still detected similar to an A64

UPDATE: It was indeed a hardware problem. I RMAd my board to have the CMOS chip replaced, and everything is fine now.
