I don't think this thread belongs in the software- pg gaming section so i'm posting it here

I'm interested in buying this $6 PS-style PC gamepad got shiz n gigglez. It's only $6, if something goes wrong during a heated game of Doom 2, I'll just take it to the nearest recycling bin and get myself a controller that's worth a damn, right?

this:

but before I go ahead and waste $6, does anyone have experiences with PS controller knockoffs from Hong Kong? what can I expect from it? a pretty good bang for the buck or a steam pile of dog doo?

😕

thanks for the input

ive used the logitech version b4, and it wasnt bad.

But if you ask my honest advice, id grab a Xbox360 controller thats wired usb.
If your on windows 7, it will pick up the drivers automatically and install it.

And most games now a days for PC has xbox360 support, because it comes out for xbox as well.

I had a couple controllers like that from Hong Kong. They died. T_T

On the bright side, I got a PS2-to-USB adapter from there and it still works. Huzzah!

I've used plenty of these knock-offs. One of the places I use to work for sold these.

If you're looking for overall criticisms, I'll just give you the ones I had. The controller feels very light in your hands; but in a hollow way. The plastic is thin so you can easily "dent" the controller should it drop off a desk and onto a hard floor or if you get angry and bang it against the desk.

The labels on buttons wear out pretty quickly. Some models, the buttons get stuck rather quickly too, but nothing a little baby oil / lotion can't fix applied with a q-tip around the button groove.

Rumble works as intended, but I never tested the durability of it since I didn't have many games that supported rumble.

It works and it's cheap. I bought 2 and after the first year I just threw the first one away and started using the 2nd one. Once that wore out a few months down the road I just bought a Logitech Cordless Rumble 2 and here I am.

Flea markets in your local area may have derivatives of this controller. Since I live in SoCal, my local drive to Chinatown pretty much has these by the hundreds.

Cheap controllers generally don't last long at all. The real things last forever though. I would also suggest the xbox 360 controller -- it works great for my emulated N64 games, and it's high quality.
