Has anyone been keeping up with Battlefield 2???

That commander thing sounds a lot like what they promised in TFC2. I wonder how it will work out online.

If anyone cares about DesertCombat,

the makers of DC, trauma studios, was bought out by DICE a little while back. My clan leader was the lawyer for trauma and DICE has them working on a seperate game, using a BF2 engine, but they were not involved in the BF2 game itself but a seperate one that was to come later on. He said he could not tell us anymore than that because of NDA.

IMO the desertcombat people have more tallent than the people at DICE when it comes to aspects of the game.

looks nice....but hl2 has ruined my interpritation of 'AWESOME' graphics on the pc....damn you valve....i love you

ever play natural selection mod for HL?

After Battlefield Vietnam being basically a mod for BF1942, I am a bit wary of further Battlefield games. I think this is just EA cashcowing.

Battlefield 2 is *supposed* to be a complete from-scratch game engine and design though... hopefully it turns out better than BF: V did. (I still like BF: V, but wish I had waited and not bought it for the full release price on the day it was released) Regardless of reviews, I'm gonna wait on this one for a little bit after it comes out....

Same. I liked and still enjoy BF:V, but it seemed overpriced at $35. Should've waited for the price-drop to 20.

Without DICE, the DC guys would have nothing to work with. I agree they did a great job. DC was an amazing piece of work for a mod and I played it a lot. But I eventually went back to plain BF 1942 because, IMO, it is still better than DC in terms of balance, maps, and gameplay. Just remember that there is a BIG difference between creating an entire game and creating a mod for a game.

I talked to some of the EA guys about this game at E3 - this is an entirely new graphic's engine
