Has anyone been infected by a virus from a Hotmail account?

Given that Hotmail scans their e-mails for viruses, is Hotmail therefore immune to threats and all e-mails recieved are to be considered safe?

I'm thinking no, but that's largely because I'm not trusting of what I do not control.

EDIT:

This whole question stems from someone's belief that they are immune from viruses as Hotmail scans them. Hence they have no locally installed AV product. Smart, eh?

I don't use hotmail anymore. But there's probably a window where a new virus can get through if the scanning software doesn't contain a definition for the new virus.

Wasn't there a virus a while ago that people could get from just opening an email on hotmail? Not even the attachment?
