Has anybody used 1and1.com domain name hosting?

I'm having trouble correctly pointing them using my DNS settings...it's correctly listed on the site in the settings using my DNS and it's been over 36 hours, but it still shows up with their DNS settings in an unmodifiable section. Their FAQs are almost as much of a joke as their "24/7" support.

My site works too... hosting at 1and1 and bought the domain from somewhere else.

i'm the opposite. The domain name was purchased through 1and1 and the hosting is elsewhere.

ack...finally got a tech. It takes 48 hours for 1and1.com to submit the DNS change, and then another 24 hours for propogation. BS!

i bought my domain thru them and they host my stuff.

i have no problems with it at all.

I never bothered signing up for a free account, due to all the other fly by night hosting scams in the past. Is 1and1 still legit (for now at least)?
